A waterproof hooded rain jacket designed for year-round adventure

Description

Made for exploration rather than speed, this quarter-zip waterproof pullover makes use of GORE-TEX Active™, a lightweight three-layer construction that’s waterproof and breathable. With a new, more relaxed fit and soft next-to-skin feel, the jacket is comfortable on and off the bike, no matter what you’re wearing underneath. Should your adventure take you off-road, there are several technical features to keep you comfortable. The storm hood features an elasticated closure to keep the weather at bay and can be worn with or without a helmet. A large chest pocket with internal mesh dividers keeps riding rations and maps out of the rain and close to hand. Reflective stripes on the side panels and dots on the rear ensure you stay seen in low light conditions. Once night falls, the jacket packs down into an integrated stuff sack which doubles as a pillow for overnight pit stops, or smaller still to fit inside your jersey pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome jacket Purchased for touring in Scotland in autumn/spring when rain is the norm. Has been excellent after 3 trips. Love the hood, I use helmet outside hood in heavy rain. Kept me dry in a couple of heavy downpours. Cuffs work well with good fit over gloves. Have only ever put very light items in front pocket which has been fine. Have been warm at 7-10C with just a merino base layer and a buff. Quibbles would be the drawstring does not always engage when adjusting on bike. Personal preference for full zip. Minor things in a great jacket. I have a medium at 186cm 74kg and I’d say a perfect fit (have had a light down jacket underneath on a cold morning ride).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Been waiting for this for a long time I am a daily bike commuter as well as road rider etc. I wanted a Gore-Tex jacket that looks nice and casual on the train and does not make me look like a bike racer on my commute. This fits the bill perfectly. I have used now for over a month and October was extremely wet. Its completely waterproof. The pocket at the front is very useful for stowing my phone and railcard and easy to access. The hood is excellent and fits nicely under my helmet as has been needed with some of the recent storms. Minor negative is the velcro on the front pocket gets stuck to the inside pocket separator which has led to some minor fraying. Fits big - I am 6'3" and 78 kg and a medium was perfect for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket, poorly designed closure of thepocket Overall the jacket is great, you get all the Goretex magic, and it looks great because tailored by Racha. I’m 188cm, 80kg and L fits like a suit hand made by an Italian tailor. However the pocket is designed very poorly. You have just 3 tiny dots of velcro to keep the pocked closed.1) They tend to stick to stick where they shouldn’t, i.e. the cotton parts inside the pocket. If you take out something while riding, and put it back without being careful it’s gonna be a mess 2) if you have tiny stuff in the pocket - airpods, credit card sized wallet, keys - everything falls out on the floor while taking off the jacket. Despite this, would buy it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'd really recommend going one size up The only thing with this pullover is after getting it u won't have an excuse to buy other winter waterproof jackets.. I got it in medium (1.82cm 78kg) as I'm most likely m in most of rapha's range, and it fits perfectly good! BUT if u wanna use Ur cargo back pockets, or the pockets of your jersey down under, then it really would be more comfortable have little more space. The difference is not that big for it to look baggy or anything close. Medium for me was perfect for it to look "as it should" but large was far more practical and yet looks good and aesthetic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A quality jacket, but not perfect. Positive overall experience. The jacket is excellent quality. Gore-tex is very light and shown itself to be completely waterproof. I like the reflective elements as I use it for riding all the time. I am 180cm and Medium was a good fit. A couple of minor negatives: the fit on the arms is slightly looser than I would have liked - material flaps a little when you cycle along. The pocket in the front is a good idea, but once it has something in, it tends to make the material sag and hang down from the torso. When it's not raining and you don't need the hood there is no place to roll it up and stop it flapping around - it can act like a giant parachute behind the rider - at least it does for me. In conclusion a quality jacket, but not yet perfect.

I love the fit of the jacket and it’s great quality however, I’ve recently done 2 long distance rides and when heading into heavy rain, water manages to get through the flap that closes the pocket, it’s a really poorly designed closure with only 3 small pieces of Velcro holding the flap Down so it’s basically not sealed.. this would be a perfect jacket if the flap was replaced with a water tight zipper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great on and off the bike I had to select cyclo cross as my primary style of riding as mountain biking wasn't an option! However I'm a mountain biker and yes we do buy stuff from Rapha! This jacket is an excellent example of why. Rapha finally seem to be catering more for the off road/explorer rider and I would recommend this jacket for that kind of cyclist. The fit is roomy and I can wear it with just a simple base layer or with an extra layer comfortably. The waterproofing was well tested the other day and is excellent as you'd expect. Water beads well and rolls off the fabric. I like the style and although I haven't really tested the pocket yet I can see it being useful when using this jacket for walking. The jacket works well off the bike and I have worn it for walks as well as on the bike. A couple of walks along the beach have shown it to be very wind resistant! Overall very pleased with it and would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliantly comfortable and well-built I purchased this piece a month ago as an addition to my cold wet weather gear in Seattle. I am 5’10” and 180lbs and the Large fits well. The quality of the build with Gore-Tex is apparent, and I feel warm and dry wearing it as an outer layer riding through the city. I thought the little Joey pouch was silly at first, but it’s grown on me and I use it to keep my phone and knick-knacks while riding. It is not insulated, so it serves as a shell. But paired with a puffer jacket underneath it’s the best weather protection I’ve been privileged to wear.

do you need to re waterproof this jacket if so how?

From time to time waterproof jackets will need to be reproofed as the DWR coating can wear out. There are 2 brands that I would recommend for reproofing your jacket. Either Granger's or Nikwax. They both do as wash-in reproofer or a 2-in-1 wash & reproofer.

Is this jacket guaranteed 100% waterproof? as I’ve commuted all winter with the deep winter jacket (the only jacket you’ll ever need!) this has not been waterproof.

The thickness is fairly thin as this jacket is made from a lightweight three layer material and being Gore Tex it water proof & breathable.
