Q. How do you select and monitor suppliers?
A. We select our suppliers based on a number of different criteria including; their manufacturing capabilities, innovation, garment quality, a fair price for our products and communication.
We insist that our suppliers share the fundamental ethics and values presented in our Code of Conduct, which all our suppliers are asked to sign. Before committing to production with a new supplier or facility, we ask them to carry out a social and labour self-assessment through the Higg Index FSLM. We then work closely with our suppliers to ensure these high levels of working standards are maintained. Our finished goods suppliers must also sign a Master Service Agreement, which has been designed to give support and stability to our suppliers, including delivery lead times and cost agreements.
Rapha has shared a working relationship with many suppliers since the formation of the company 17 years ago, and on average we work with suppliers for 8 years. To maintain relationship integrity, we encourage face to face communication between our staff and suppliers and regularly visit in person, touring the factories. Our staff are acutely aware of the standards we deem acceptable and their feedback following a visit contributes to the ongoing assessment of our suppliers.
