Rapha and L’Etape du Tour

L’Étape du Tour is a unique proposition among cycling events. Does any other sport give its fans the chance to challenge themselves, in the same conditions, on the very same field as its finest competitors?

02 June 2019

The Tour de France is arguably the biggest event in the cycling calendar, and this is its biggest day.

On Sunday 21st July, those lucky enough to ride will find themselves at the bottom of one of the biggest days in professional cycling’s calendar. Previewing the Tour’s 20th stage, riders will tackle a route between Albertville and Val Thorens. This year, they’ve packed 4,563 metres of climbing into 135 kilometres, making this day a real test for the world’s best.

Rapha returns as official clothing sponsor with a limited edition collection to celebrate the ride’s unique allure. The Rapha Cycling Club will be there too to support members at every turn of the pedals.

High mountain passes, alpine lakes and the sleepy summer towns of the Savoie await.

Rapha Cycling Club at L’Etape

Every year the Etape brings Rapha Cycling Club (RCC) members together from around the world, and 2019 will be no different. With a special limited club kit available, a full RCC support team and the renowned hospitality of the Mobile Clubhouse on hand to help riders focus on the challenge ahead, club members will be made up before they ride up.

This year, as well as making the official Etape merchandise, we have designed a special RCC Etape Jersey. This event jersey will only be available to purchase at the Rapha tent by members riding the sportive, making it the perfect memento of their achievement.

RCC members can ride together on pre-event reconnaissance and warm up rides, make sure their legs are in top condition thanks to our masseur, and meet VIP guests such as the riders of CANYON//SRAM. At the finish line, members will find the Mobile Clubhouse with post-ride massages and nutritious food – a just reward for an unforgettable effort.

What To Expect

Last year’s edition saw riders from around the world follow in the tyre tracks of the Tour de France, pitting themselves against the steep climbs and gravel tracks of the Savoie Alps.

Setting out from the shores of Lake Annecy, over 80 members followed the same route as the tenth stage of the 2018 Tour de France, a twisting and mountainous course finishing in the small town of le Grand Bornand.

Here are just a few pictures from the day to get you in the mood for a new day at L’Étape.
