Rapha Black Friday Ride
Help us donate bikes to those who need them most as we ride a million kilometres in support of World Bicycle Relief.11 November 2021
After the huge success of our inaugural event last year, the Rapha Black Friday Ride is back! And just like last year, we need your help to reach our riding target of a million kilometres and donate as many bikes as possible to people who really need them. Join us on Friday, 26th, November to contribute your kilometres to the cause.
Once again, we’ll be riding in support of World Bicycle Relief whose vital work improves people’s access to healthcare, education and employment through the donation of bikes. But rather than making a one-time donation, the Rapha Foundation is pledging $150,000 per year for the next three years to support the Mobilised Communities programme in Kasungu, Malawi.
Wherever you are, taking part is simple. To contribute your kilometres, simply sign up to the challenge on Strava. Every kilometre counts, and no ride is too small. Together, we can make a difference.
JOIN THE CHALLENGE
The challenge takes place on Friday, 26th November and will be hosted on Strava. Sign up to this year’s challenge to ensure your kilometres are added to the global total, and pick up a Rapha Black Friday rider’s digital roundel to add to your trophy cabinet once you’ve finished.Sign up
HOW IT WORKS
Once you’re signed up on Strava, every kilometre you contribute will be added to our global total and will help us to donate as many bikes as possible. By hitting our goal of one million kilometres, we will ensure that $150,000 of Rapha Foundation funding goes directly to World Bicycle Relief’s Mobilised Communities Program. Over the next three years, we intend to help the program donate nearly 2,000 bikes to those who need them most.
CALL IN AT A CLUBHOUSE
To celebrate the Black Friday ride and connect our global riding community, Rapha Clubhouses will be on hand to provide support. While some have special group rides scheduled, others will be offering complimentary coffee to anyone taking part. So if you live near a Clubhouse, make sure to drop in at some point on your ride.Find a ride
RAPHA FOUNDATION SUPPORTING COMMUNITIES ON THE MOVE
This year, all the funds raised on the Black Friday Ride will support a project focused on communities in Kasungu, Malawi. Since affordable transportation options are largely unavailable in the region, the school enrolment rate in Kasungu is only 33%, the reach of community health workers is limited and farmers struggle to distribute their produce.
With three annual investments of $150,000 from the Rapha Foundation, World Bicycle Relief’s Mobilised Communities Program will significantly increase local people’s mobility and, in turn, allow them to access better healthcare
If we spread the word far and wide and all do our bit on the ride, we’re certain that we’ll reach the one million kilometre mark. However, if you would like to make an additional contribution on top of the money Rapha donates to World Bicycle Relief, you can do so via our donations page. Any amount would be massively appreciated.
RIDE WITH THE RAPHA FOUNDATION
Founded in 2019 with the mission of building a better future for cycling, the Rapha Foundation now supports more than ten organisations around the world committed to inspiring, empowering and supporting the next generation of riders from under-represented communities in the sport.
All of our grantees know the impact a helping hand can have in underserved cycling communities. To pass on the goodwill, many of them will be joining the Rapha Black Friday Ride to help even more people unleash the power of the bicycle.
