Yonretto Trailer
Rapha's Japanese friend and agent, Daisuke Yano, was in London Town over the weekend for business and some impromptu ice riding. He also dropped this video, a snippet from the forthcoming Rapha Yonretto ride program, which will be an unprecedented documentation of Japanese riding - with a similar manifesto to that of the Rapha Continental.
The unique Japanese mise-en-scene glimpsed here is certainly building an appetite for some great cycling photography and video, definitely inspiration to be drawn from on the next lone grey Essex plod anyway.
Kurosawa on bikes anyone?

Excellent! I am thinking about visiting Japan this year. Does anyone know if it's easy to rent a good race bike over there?

Kurosawa on bikes! I love it. Especially if there are seven riders.
I really enjoyed the Continental and I'm eagerly anticipating seeing the Yonretto and how it unfolds.

How adorably practical to put fenders on the bikes.

Chris,
We are looking into getting a few more riders to make it seven (subtitles will be included where necessary)…
But seriously, the terrain in Japan looks beautiful. The photography should be excellent.
David,
Are you suggesting 'fenders' or mudguards (don't know the Japanese symbol for those) are not pro?
I would like to get to the bottom of this… ARE MUDGUARDS PRO OR NOT?
For training, I suggest they are a wise touch… put more weight on the bike as well…

Edgar it depends what you mean by a good race bike! I have heard
you can rent bikes but it doesn't seem to be usual here (Tokyo).
Cycling around here is good, especially when you get in to the less
populated areas.
Look on bikely.com at some of the Half- fast rides to give you an idea
of what cycling in the Tokyo area is like.

Japanese for fender is ????? or ??? or ???. The first (katakana) is the one you'll come across in a bike shop. I look forward to more details about Yonretto (???).

Not sure if they're pro or not, but my Japanese Honjo fenders rock! Maybe Honjo is Japanese for "fender." :)

We put the fenders on our first ride just to get the point across. Cielo only comes fender ready. From our 3rd filming we'll be fendered only when necessary, typhoon, snow storm, june/july's dreadful rain season…at least they are custom made carbon fenders, naturally from Portland, OR.

The Japanese word for mudguard/ fender is "doro yoke" doro meaning mud.
Yes there is plenty of wonderful road riding in Japan 80% percent of the country is mountains.
