The World Championships in Denmark is not only a great opportunity to see the world’s best riders in action, but also a perfect chance to ride and experience the beautiful landscape of North Sealand outside Copenhagen yourself.

Rapha has four beautiful, classic rides of varying length planned for you to join with added support and coffee breaks from Rapha Mobile Cycle Club.

All Rapha World Championship Rides are Social Rides supported by local Rapha representatives and ambassador riders making sure no one gets left behind.

Ride 1

  • Date: 21st. September 2011
  • Distance: 50-60km
  • Departure: 17.30
  • Arrival: 20.00
  • Departure location: Rapha Mobile Cycle Club at Soigneur, Strandvejen 6, Østerbro, 2100 Copenhagen Ø

Rapha’s first ride gets underway thirty minutes after the men’s World Championship Time Trial has finished. A classic North Sealand route, it follows the coastline for a short stretch before turning inland. Passing through nearby woods, the ride then heads for Holte, in Rudersdal, and the 14km circuit used for the Road Race.

The circuit includes two climbs, Geels Hill and Søllerød Slotsvej. From there we continue through Hørsholm on a picturesque ride known as the ‘Morten Korch route’. Named after the popular Danish writer whose work regularly featured idealised portraits of rural Denmark, with its pretty farmhouses, village ponds and open fields it is beautiful country to ride through.

Once we reach Nivaa, we head back towards Copenhagen, again along the coastline, before finishing at the Rapha Mobile Cycle Club at Soigneur.

On what is a rest day for the pros before the Road Race gets underway, this classic 150km ride takes us through the very heart of North Sealand.

Starting at the Rapha Mobile Cycle Club, we head up the coastal road passing through some of the most expensive real estate in Denmark. Én route, you will get stunning views of both Øresund and neighbouring Sweden.

The coastal road takes us past the famous Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk before we reaching Helsingør and the equally famous Kronborg Castle. Known around the world by another name, Elsinore, it is the home of Shakespeare’s tragic prince, Hamlet. Continuing along the coast, we stop in nearby Hornbæk Harbour, where the Rapha Mobile Cycle Club will be serving coffee.

The ride from Hornbæk, through Gilleleje and Tisvildeleje, provides views of Helsingborg in southern Sweden, before we head inland toward Arresø for a spot of climbing.

After a loop around the beautiful scenery of Esrum Sø, we head for Fredensborg, home to the Fredensborg Palace of Prince Frederik and Princess Mary. From here we ride along the Morten Korch route, down to Sjælsø for another short climb, and on towards Trørød and Holte, where the Rapha Mobile Cycle Club will join us once again at Gl. Holtegaard on Attemosevej.

Ride 3

  • Date: 23rd. September 2011
  • Distance: 60-70km
  • Departure: 17.30
  • Arrival: 20.00
  • Departure location: Rapha Mobile Cycle Club at Gl. Holtegaard, Attemosevej, 2840 Holte

This early evening ride starts a stone’s throw from the Road Race route. It’s also within spitting distance of Hotspot Camping 3, so you have no excuse not to join us on yet another classic North Sealand ride. We head first for the coast at Vedbæk, before turning back inland toward Sandbjerg Hill. This 3-4km climb isn’t steep but it’s enough to remind you that you’re alive before we ride through Trørød to the top of Trørød Hill.

From here you can enjoy spectacular views of Sjælsø lake before descending to Birkerød and towards Farum. Heading straight for the classic ‘Bull’s Neck’ ride near Ganløse, we then ride through beautiful woods with some short, sharp climbs along the way.

After stopping at the Rapha Mobile Cycle Club in Slangerup, we head for the picturesque woodland around Buresø Lake. Finally we head back through Farum and Birkerød, climbing Trørød Hill again, then descending Sandbjerg Hill and finishing at our start point.

Please note:
For your own safety please ensure you have good front and rear lights.

Ride 4

  • Date: 24th. September 2011
  • Distance: 60-70km
  • Departure: 17.30
  • Arrival: 20.00
  • Departure location: Rapha Mobile Cycle Club at Gl. Holtegaard, Attemosevej, 2840 Holte

The fourth and final Rapha ride of the World Championships starts with a quick, hilly ride through Trørød before setting out towards Kettinge.

After a lengthy stretch of woodland just outside Birkerød, we reach Kettinge before heading for Strø Hills, known for their beautiful views of the North Sealand countryside.

After sufficient short, sharp grades to wake your legs up, the Rapha Mobile Cycle Club will join us in Skævinge. After refuelling on premium espresso, we head back towards Hillerød and make a quick turn towards ‘the Army route’. Heading straight through army training territory, we head back for our final rendezvous with the Rapha Mobile Cycle Club at the finish.
