Winter Socks

Cold feet can lead to miserable winter cycling and keeping your extremities warm is vital for successful winter training. The Rapha Winter Socks have been designed to keep your feet comfortable even during the coldest days on the bike. Made from a thicker yarn than Rapha’s traditional socks, season-specific features include a padded toe and footbed for maximum warmth.

The natural fibre absorbs sweat to keep your feet dry and the socks have flat, handlocked stitching in the toes to prevent the seams rubbing. A contrast line graphic runs around the top of the foot and the socks have Rapha text printed inside the ankle cuffs. The text is only visible when the cuffs are folded down.

  • Great stretch for improved fit.
  • Padded toe and footbed for comfort and warmth.
  • Handlocked toe stitching avoids seam rubbing.
  • Itch free, anti-bacterial and odour resistant.

  • Merino-rich blend (52% merino wool, 46% nylon, 2% Elastane).

  • Turn inside out to wash
  • No fabric softener required
  • Machine wash 40c
  • Tumble dry low
  • Do not bleach
  • Do not iron
  • Do not dry clean

Sizing Guide

Sizes range between Small to Extra Large. Above is a guide for UK, US, EU and Japanese measurements.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm socks pair with anything, will suffer anythin These are very warm socks that will keep insulating your feet, even if they're soaked. Wool is great that way. They are a bit thick (not unlike this reviewer) so if your shoes fit on the tight side you may find it a bit hard to stuff your feet in them when you've got these on. Common wisdom around socks in the cold is that a thinner, less insulating sock may work better if there's some air in your shoe/boot, because your shoe traps the warm air, and your foot can be mobile. So it's possible that cyclists, whose shoes are usually spray-on-tight, are doomed to have cold feet. But these socks will go a ways towards helping those riders who do not accept that fate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best merino socks These are the best merino socks I have ever bought (and I have a few). Superb fit and feel. and a nice amount of stretch to conform to your feet. I am normally a size 44 in shoes, but went with the medium size (size 39-42) for these socks as I have a fairly skinny foot. The mediums fit perfectly and there is no looseness or bunching when on, so my impression is that the socks are sized larger that the sizing chart (i.e. guidelines). One other issue to take care with is that these socks are reasonably thick (as you would expect with a sock aimed at warmth) and will take up some room in your shoes. Therefore, they are probably not the best socks to buy if you have tight fitting shoes. All in all, though, an excellent product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functional and stylish A wel made quality product from Rapha, as you'd expect. I've ridden in these three times now and found that in temperatures of between 5 and 10 deg C they're cosy inside my neo-prene lined cyclocross shoes. When the temp has fallen closer to freezing I've worn a Rapha lighter weight sock underneath for extra warmth to prevent my toes from getting cold. Another option would be overshoes as an alternative to a second pair of socks. Riders have different tolerances of the cold but saying that, these have been a valuable addition to my winter wardrobe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Autumn socks not quite winter These sock are extremely comfortable, and they are warm down to about 8 degrees on their own and about 5 with overshoes. Below this which living in the hills my commute is generally is in the winter they are not quite enough. That being said I will be buying another pair for Autumn and Spring rides!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable and warm I have worn these socks on some cool Autumn rides with my road shoes and Rapha neoprene overshoes. The socks are quite thick and undoubtably warm and have a more dense toe and footpad. There doesn't appear to be much lycra in the material (if any) and so the fit is a little loose compared to normal socks. Once on though they are the best socks I have found to keep my feet warm. One thing to bear in mind is that the thickness makes them more snug inside my road shoes - I just get away with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent merino-rich socks I train year round in Canada, where the mercury dips well below freezing in winter. My feet also tend to run quite cold, so the merino-rich winter socks are used throughout autumn and spring. The socks feel great, wick extremely well and hold up to frequent washing. They’ve remained soft and lofty through much wear and washing. If the ribbing on the upper cuff would extend lower for more support, I would rate them as perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice fit and warm. I hadn't used winter grade socks before and previously just used light grade with overshoes when cold. These sock are snug and warm. They feel comfortable and have a good length. No annoying seams to create pressure points and a good wool/synthetic blend. As usual the black with pink writing looks good. I like the way you can turn the top down and Rapha is the right way up.
