The Rapha Winter Hat

Winters are hard in Belgium. An ice-cold wind from the North Sea blows across the plains and murs, carrying rain and sleet. This classic, Belgian-style cycling hat has been designed with such conditions in mind. Worn under a helmet or on its own, the Rapha Winter hat will keep you warm and may even increase your training miles.

The hat is made from brush-backed, stretch Sportwool™ (61% polyester, 25% wool, 14% elastane) giving great insulation. A soft mesh lining wicks away perspiration to improve comfort. The seven panel design gives an excellent fit, and one size fits all. The ribbed ear guard gives added protection and can also be folded up for an authentic Freddy Maertens look or wear the hat backwards like Rapha Condor’s Dean Downing.

Reviews:

"…knit from sportwool, a synthetic/wool blend that doesn’t itch, but is stretchy and comfortable. The one-size-fits all cap isn’t too snug on your head, avoiding the squeezy feeling you can get from some synthetic cycling caps (and keeping your coiffure intact)."
Andrew J. Bernstein, Bicycling

"…Rapha’s typically understated branding gives a really classy feel."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm Head throuhout the Ride Works really well in sub-zero Celcius Rides, and keeps your Ears and Neck warm throughout the Ride, although you might get a little cold Forhead sensation down hill. Rather perfect, I'd say! (And I do have a rather large Head Size.)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks great - a little tight I bought this last month because I enjoy cold weather riding. It's warm and stylish. I was a little surprised at how tight it is though. It fits, barely. Unfortunately, I'm left with an indentation around my forehead from the hat. It remains for hours. A little bit of stretch, would have went long way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from little tight but still sexy the cap is a little tight. as other reviews have mentioned. Radha should consider a S/M and a M/L option. Its warm and great quality. I wear a medium helmet in most brands for reference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You need this cap in winter Few years ago, i've bought a merino wool Belgian style cap. Love it so much. But merino wool need gentle care. The fabric off this version seem way more durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing quality and style Comfortable with a very nice fit on it's own or under a helmet. A must have for colder fall, winter and spring riding.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Quality but Small! I love Rapha styling but form certainly give's way to function with this hat. One size fits all is a bit optimistic - in my case it's too small. I was surprised to hear from the customer service rep that she had not heard of any sizing issues, even though I found several complaints about the hat being too small on their own site. It's too bad I didn't read the reviews before ordering...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice hat after initial break in period This hat is very comfortable and toasty warm. I wear it primarily for mountain descents when the temperature is below forty degrees farenheit. Very secure, the visor stays put in thirty mph breeze and glasses fit comfortably under the ear flaps. For hard riding I find it too warm for anything above freezing. My only complaint is that it was pretty tight on my head to start. After stretching out the elastic band a bit the hat feels and looks great on my head. Overall great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, a minimalist winter hat I can wear! saw a buddy of mine wearing one and HAD to get one. I had a similar hat made by a different manufacturer and was too bulky. This def fit the bill! Love it!
