Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great bag in the dark, though smal waist-strap Does Rapha has an extension for the waist - strap? The very first item I noticed was the small size waist strap Thus, unable to secure the backpack on the waist. I started using the backpack as soon as it arrived. The backpack handles nicely with a laptop plus accessories. The hi-vis rain cover repels water keeping all items inside the pack dry. The reflective dots work excellently in the dark. Also, I can barely notice that I am carrying the bag when fully loaded. I just wish I could be able to use the waist-strap. I have a 44 inch waist. The straps are not made to handle sizes bigger than 32inch

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the best I bought it 4-5 months ago. Simply the best bagpack I've ever owned. Big enough to carry my 15" MacBook Pro in safe. Easy to organise all your staff in the little smart pockets. My personal best is the shoes pocket. that is brilliant. There is another zip you can earn some extra room for a long weekend if needed. The quality as usual. I have another Rapha bag which do its job now more then 4 years without any sign of wear out (in everyday use). So go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for commuting. I needed a solid pack. As a designer I was looking for something designed thoughtfully...with all the right features. This did the trick. Fits my laptop snug, everything I need to change at work fits too. Just a couple of suggestions: the elastic loops on the outside were sewn in poorly. I've been using my bag very lightly so far and it seems they were not strong or reinforced properly. The shoe bag inside is barely big enough for my bike shoes. I imagine men (who I imagine have larger feet than me, may have a hard time fitting their shoes in there). Overall though, very happy with this purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad - but not great, it's no Rapha Backpack. A qualifying comment before I get into it - I've owned the smaller Rapha backpack for around 6 months now and it's one of my favorite bits of gear, it's been everywhere with me - including overseas and on my regular work commute - which is about a 50km round trip. The backpack design is just right in many many ways - with my one very small complaint being the lack of reflective surface on the back for night riding and my major one that it is just too small for my needs at times - hence the purchase of the rucksack. Lets start with whats good about the rucksack. The bag remains a very high quality piece of kit - great build quality and a generally solid feel that inspires confidence. It's also generally very comfortable on my back both when walking and riding, the back plate design is simple but effective - 6 small pads on each side from the mid to upper section and then a single large pad for the lower back, the padding is relatively slim but just enough to be very comfortable without being bulky. The straps are wide and very comfortable and the chest and waist straps keep the bag stable and comfortable. Even when using the expandable compartment it keeps the weight well placed so that it doesn't feel unbalanced - even though the capacity is around double that of the backpack. Feature wise, the majority of the same features are there in the bag. It adds an externally accessible mobile phone pouch behind the neck and loops for a helmet on the outside. Overall it's high quality design and construction shows and with the tastefully understated aesthetic it's the kind of bag that wears well with a suit, more casual clothes or on the bike. It is nice to note that this tasteful aesthetic isn't compromised by the very reflective dots that now also occupy the face of the bag and the shoulder straps. Owning the backpack and needing a larger back means that to me the rucksack should have been a no brainer but a number of design changes means that for me i'm somewhat unhappy with it. My HUGE gripe - and the first thing that struck me when I put it on was the lump near the top of my back that made the bag feel uncomfortable, particularly when I had my laptop in it. The lump is the rain cover for the bag which is no longer in the very convenient out of the way externally accessible pocket in the bottom of the bag and now sits 2/3 of the way up the back of the bag - against may back, so when I put my laptop in the bag and fill it up it pushes the rain cover against my back harder - and if I've bunched the rain cover up when I put it back, it's a little ball being pressed against my back by a much stiffer object (the laptop). In use, you almost forget that it's there, almost - but it's still an annoying design change that I cant see a good reason for and that is of net detriment to the overall comfort of the bag. The rain cover design has also changed, on the Rapha backpack it has a 3 way yoke at the top that seems a little odd the first time you use it but in use it is practically perfect, it nicely pulls the top of the rain cover over so that it sits snugly over the top of the bag and the bottom of the rain cover pulls snugly around the bottom of the bag - even when using the expandable compartment. The rain cover on the Rucksack now has little webbing button loops that snap around two elastic loops on the sides of the bag behind the shoulders. The fastener for the rain cover at the top seems to have been abandoned to add the externally accessible mobile phone sheath. Whether of not this is a good addition, when it rains the lack of a fastener at the top means that the rain cover no longer sits over the top of the bag - so the top of the bag now gets wet, it's a change that doesn't make a lot of sense and for someone who wants a stylish commuter bag, the lack of an effective rain cover doesn't fill me with confidence. The addition of the shoe compartment and helmet carrier are some other additions that don't really work. The expandable compartment behind the face of the bag is shaped almost perfectly to fit a pair of shoes - it tapers just right and that's generally what I use it for, so the addition of the internal shoe compartment doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. The one time so far that I've tried to use it (incidentally to hold my climbers shoes) the fact that I'm a 47 meant that it expands to the point where it takes up most of the bottom of the bag and makes it impossible to close with my laptop and a book in the bag. The idea that we'll put shoes in the internal shoe compartment and then fold the bag closed on whatever else is in there is a kind of useless idea in practice. So far the shoe compartment has been more of a pain than anything else - it doesn't work and the lip is only 4 inches from the bottom of the bag so it constantly gets caught when I slide things into the bag without completely opening the full zips all the way down the side. In all honesty it looks like it was put in without an understanding of how people actually use bags - more road testing next time please. The helmet loops are also poorly executed, I'm still trying to work out how exactly they're supposed to work, they're pictured on the website snugly holding the team sky helmet snugly against the face of the bag - but in practice, this doesn't really happen, in practice the elastic loops bind on the two way buckle on my helmet and stop it from being held snugly - so while they're there and you can clip your helmet to them, it will swing around, hit things and just generally be annoying - but you won't leave it behind. To sum up - Good - Still a very high quality build. Really tasteful design aesthetic Very comfortable - when you remove the rain cover. The bad - Dumb positioning of the rain cover storage section. Shoe compartment doesnt work. Helmet loops dont work. Rain cover changes mean the rain cover now no longer covers the whole bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really nice bag - shame about the rain cover I've been after one of these for ages, so was please to pick one up recently. I wanted a commuter bag but was large enough for weekends away / city breakers etc. The bag is well made and opens up for various storage option, but the big let down is the rain cover. It isn't stored in the base of the bag like the smaller backpack, but stored in a compartment in the back causing a huge uncomfortable lump. Ok, it can be move inside the bag robbing space but it would be far nicer to have a compartment hidden in the base of the bag. Ultimately this is a bag made for cycling and I feel rapha need to reconsider the design to make perfect, from the nearly perfect product it is now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT SIZE FOR TRAVEL i love the size of the rucksack. i have the backpack, too, and love that also, but the rucksack gives just that bit of extra room that allows it to be more of an overnight pack than just a day pack. love, love, love.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rucksack Looks great. Storage and overall build the normal exemplary Rapha fineness. One criticism. The shoulder straps need a greater adjustable capability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing design, really well thought through I have been looking for a bag for commuting for a while and have tried various ones, but could never find one that ticked all the boxes, until now. I need a fair bit of space for a change of clothes, lunch box, inevitable work papers, sometimes a few groceries on the way home. I also need it to be comfortable when riding, waterproof, stylish (I'm an architect, these things matter when I meet clients), with easily accessible pockets for keys, phone etc. This rucksack does all of the above and more. Some cycling bags are just big sacks, this has cool pockets inside to keep stuff separate and easy to find. It isn't the cheapest, but worth every penny. The extra expandable section is great for stashing yet more stuff when needed. Looks & feels great too, did I say that?

Hi, is there any creative way to carry a yoga mat with the backpack?

Asked by: Verylarry
Hi, there are small bungee cord straps on the back of the bag for holding a helmet. You could thread a piece of rope/cord through the straps and then tie this round the yoga mat to secure it. If you're in a rush, you can always slip it in between your back and the bag.

Hi, the Rucksack does not have a frame in the interior, at the back. The padding does aid with the structure of the product.
