Could cover ears more
I bought this hat to use as regular everyday hat. I am happy about the quality, especially fabric quality. For my head size (I don't think that my head size is irregular) the ears are not completely covered. You can overstretch the hat to cover ears, but after few moments it will move up.

Almost perfect, wish it were smaller
According to some reviews, this hat was on the small side which I thought would be perfect for me as I have a very small head. Unfortunately, it is a little too large but I can make it work. The merino wool is very soft and the lower band of the hat is a double layer so it keeps my ears really warm. As with all of Rapha products, it's very well made and I'm happy with my purchase. It would be nice if the hat could be made in at least 2 sizes, S-M and L-XL.

Only one drawback: one size
A very nice merino beanie. The wool is nice, soft, it doesn’t itch, it’s light and thin enough to fit under a helmet or to be worn on its own. The only drawback is that it comes in one size, and while it may fit many, we with big heads or long hair are out of luck.

Lightweight and warm
I was looking for a hat to keep my head and ears warm in the Melbourne winter months. This merino hat is perfect - it's warm but lightweight and very comfortable.

Once was a warrior - now just a bit overpriced
My first Raph purchase in over a decade. My last purchase of anything Rapha gear was direct from the NYC shop when it opened. So allot has changed in the last decade.
These current merino hats have a handful of mixed reviews as well. I think when they first sourced and designed this particular hat, it was a real game changer and amazing piece of kit for Rapha.
I wear plenty of Merino goods for the past 25 years. From an assortment of brands and uses. I want to love this product, but its quality at the current make up is just not up to what other brands are capable of designing and sourcing in 2024.
So Rapha has to get off its heritage customer tribe, and get back to resourcing optimal fabric, sewing and design patterns if they want to impress and build a new loyal tribe.
This hat could be just better all around for fit, and merino fiber sourcing at its cost. Overpriced at the current make.

Very lightweight and warm enough
I bought this to casual wear during my trip to Japan. The temperature in the evening was in the low single digit (degrees celsius) and this Merion Hat (which is really a beanie) was perfect. It probably won't be warm enough for below zero but I guess that's not what its design for. Although I don't ride with this, I can imagine it would be good for those who wants to ride with a beanie as it so lightweight that it can easily stash into a jersey pocket when it gets too warm.

Perfect hat for cold rides
The fit and quality of the material is superb. Thick enough for 0-4 degree rides and breathable enough for 10-15 degrees rides. I have a slightly bigger head than average and fits me perfectly under a helmet. The merino isn't itchy at all and can be stuffed easily into jersey pockets. A great, versatile product!

Great winter riding cap.
I got this primarily for wearing under my bike helmet on winter road rides. Its form fitting, the material is lightweight/thin, there are no bulky seams, and it fits very well under the helmet. Its quite warm for the weight. Its been a great addition to my kit and has kept my (mostly) bald head warm on rides into the low 20s F. Its a nice "cross-over" between a dedicated biking beanie and regular winter wool hat and looks fine worn by itself. I would highly recommend if you need a warmer cap for winter riding.

Perfect for winter rides. Very warm.
I live in Texas where winters are not extreme. Even so, I wore this in 50F weather and despite it being thin, it is very warm and comfortable and kept me sufficiently warm with no issues. It fits nicely under a helmet but be advised it is merino so it needs special care.

Not great, generic quality cap
I have a small head and this cap barely covers half my ears. It is shaped to wear under a helmet, but I would strongly prefer the winter cap that has a brim. Ultimately I’m not sure what this hat is good for because it’s thin and too small to cover a head and ears.

Top hat!
I wear this under a helmet on cold rides and it works a treat, keeping me warm without over heating and wicking sweat effectively. The dark navy colour is a great match for my Classic long sleeve jersey as well. Sorted.

Great product
Excellent product to wear on colder days; the universal sizing fits just fine, and is comfortable beneath a regular cycling helmet. Off the bike, turn up the broad hem and it's a useful beanie hat.

Really soft really warm sadly a bit small to me
I have long hair and probably not the smallest head. Sadly the hat dont cover my ears at all properly so I cant use it on the winter. Still a good product tho.

Beautifully soft, and warm
The hat is a lovely warm orange, and beautifully soft. It fits my head well (medium male) and is warm enough for rides close to 0 degrees C. It is stylish enough to wear off the bike.
NB I ordered the hat after ordering (but before receiving) the winter collar in the same colour. They are quite different: the collar was harsher in texture, thin, and surprisingly small (tight over my medium male head). I returned the collar - but don't let that put you off buying the hat.

Great headwear - on and off the bike
This is a perfect hat for underneath the helmet. It fits my 56cm circumference head nicely and sits mid-forehead without significant bunching at the top. The helmet therefore also fits without issues. Despite it feeling quite thin, I haven't felt cold in windy conditions down to ca. 2-3°C, but it also doesn't cause my head to sweat. I can pull it down over my ears.
And in addition to on-bike comfort, it also looks good when worn off the bike. Highly recommended.

Nice soft material that could look and fit better
Thin material over the skull but a double layer as a band around the head/ears. Nice soft merino. What could be improved: This is a one size fits all which for me means it doesn’t completely cover my ears. I would have liked it did. And the hem between the double layered “headband part” and the “skull part” makes it look a little bit weird when I use it casually (without a helmet over it) AND have glasses on. Hard to explain in words.

Best Toque Ever. Seriously.
Probably the most comfortable and best looking toque that I own. Feels very lightweight, warm when you need it to be but never too hot or itchy. So far have taking it hiking, trail running, road running and simply worn casually, and it is perfect for all activities. Never gets stinky or sweaty. Have not worn it under a helmet yet but given the minimal seams I have no doubt it would be great.

Don't forget to take it in every winter ride
An essential piece for deep winter rides.
It is great to keep your head and ears warm on the near 0 ºC rides, without being bulky. Due to its great temperature regulation properties, merino is the best choice for this type of garments. It is a little bit expensive for what it is, but it is a nice and well-constructed piece that, if well treated, it will last for ages.
Highly recommended!

Lovely
This is my third one and not because the others are worn but because my family steals them from me. This is larger part wool so one needs to take care of it, but it returns the love.

its uber snug
I bought this having survived 7 years with an old fleece beanie, therefore it was a momumental step for my head. I have not been disappointed, and have ridden in sub zero temperatures and mild and I can barely tell it is on . My old had used to cook my head and I had several tricks to regulate the heat, however with this hat i just forget i am wearing it.

Most comfortable beanie ever!
I bought this as a replacement of a Rapha reversible Merino hat I lost :(
It is by far my favorite beanie ever. Super comfortable and warm. The only reason I did not give it 5 starts is that the one I lost was reversible(orange/brown), and this one is not. Can you bring back the reversible? I will buy it. You can never own too many beanies!!!

Essential winter kit
This hat fits perfectly under my helmet, covers my ears, and is super soft. Flipping up the “brim” makes this passable as a beanie during a mid ride break which is nice feature. I have many hours on the bike with this hat and multiple cycles through the washer (with normal detergent) and absolutely no signs of wear. Would recommend

Black perfect hat
I love this hat. A perfect fit under my helmet. It keeps my head warm without the sweat. I would definitely recommend it. I don’t know if it is that I have a big head, but I would suggest you made it a bit longer to fully cover my ears. I will be ordering another one. I would give it a 10.
