Deep Winter GlovesNT$3,500.00

Rapha

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly warm These are, like most Rapha products, of the highest quality. Personally, I have long/narrow hands so usually end up caught between two sizes (adequate length with too much width around the palm/knuckles or vice versa). The finger length is great however (for me) meaning the fit is perfect. They really are extremely warm though - which is what they're supposed to be. Here in the southern UK, even for someone who gets cold hands very easily, I won't use these all that much; probably only on the few occasions where the temperature stays below 5C all day. Even then, with any reasonable effort, one's hands can easily overheat and get quite clammy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent hand protection for freezing weather I think everyone has a subjective interpretation of cold weather gear, and we all have slightly different thermostats, so variability of opinion is a given. I train and cycle year round in Canada, where some winter days see the mercury dipping to -40C. At those temperatures, the only thing that will keep your hands warm is a pogie. However, Rapha’s deep winter gloves fare reasonably well down to about -20C when paired with merino liners. A well made product, as the rest of Rapha’s offerings. A winter of constant use has left no visible wear, only a comfortable break-in of the leather. My one quibble with the glove, and with the glove “system” sizing, is that I find the deep winter gloves to be too snug when paired with a liner of the same size. This year, I purchased one size up in the deep winter gloves, and upon trying them on, this works very well paired with liners. I will look forward to many bitter cold rides this coming winter :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm fingers I have worn the Deep Winter gloves in the low 30s upper 20s with the Rapha liners. They are a better combination than the lobster gloves I was using with hand warmers. I have poor circulation and find these to help keep me on the bike. They are constructed well, but the fit is not the best for me. The fingers seem to be short for the size of the glove and cause some numbness when worn with the liners. On longer rides, by hand is sore between my thumb and first finger. Based on warmth, I am happy with my purchase. I have not worn them in damp conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The answer to cold hands in winter! Ive now been using these gloves for a couple of months for commuting and longer weekend rides in and around Glasgow. They are fantastic. Having tried many gloves over the last 10-15 years these are the best. Used on their own they keep my hands warm and dry down to roughly freezing and are in fact too warm if used much above 5 degrees. Ive often cycled this winter in temps of -5 or lower and when combined with the merino liners my hands have still been warm. I normally take a medium glove but bought the large size to combine with the medium Rapha undergloves. This combination works perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Winter Glove These are very well made, robust and warm Winter gloves. I feel the cold and have found that I need to wear Rapha's merino liners when the temperature is around freezing, but for anything above that I can wear them on their own. The cuffs are ample in length and wrap around a jacket comfortably, my only criticism is that this makes them less ideal for using in the rain when an under-jacket-cuff interface works best. But they're not designed for riding in torrential rain so this isn't too much of a consideration. For the mixed-weather UK Winter I think they are the best glove available, thoroughly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best winter gloves on the market I've tried them all. Either too bulky (think lobster gloves), not warm enough, or not windproof enough. Until I bought these gloves, I had resorted to Bar Mitts the cover the grip/brake area, but have ditched them in favor of these gloves, except when it dips below 25 degrees American. I have plenty of dexterity for shifting with these gloves, as the leather merged with the windproof fabric really gets the job done. Thanks Rapha

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wet or Dry, warm hands! Purpose for the purchase was the need for a water resistant glove, but also not the need for three layers to keep my hands warm through the winter. 2 rides in, first a cold & dry had to take my liner gloves off so didn't get too hot. Second, in wet weather, 3 hours & even my little finger didn't get cold.... Beautiful gloves & very well made.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than ski gloves in the snow I have only worn twice as the mild winter has meant my older ones were still ok. Then I made a mistake and wore some merino liners under my Neoprene Endura gloves as I wasn't sure if we were getting rain or sleet. Big mistake as I had frozen hands. I then moved to these today when we had heavy snow at 6am and strong winds on the commute into Manchester. No issues at all - nice and warm. I have a 70 mile ride in 2 weeks over Saddleworth moors which is the big test so we will see how they stand up over the longer term but for now they look like the best I have owned. Not yet given 5 stars as they haven't had a really tough test over many hours which is why I bought them, but hopefully they earn that soon.

Is the hand length for the total length of the glove or is the cuff in addition? I am 18cm wrist to finget-tip but I'd like another 7cm of cuff. Is the knuckle measurement the measurement of my knuckles or of the liner in the glove at that point?

Asked by: Aileen
Hi, the cuff is in addition to the hand length, although this is probably slightly less than 7cm. The knuckle measurement is the measurement of your knuckles.

Hi. Do they work with smartphone touch screen ?

Asked by: mmSpecilaized
Hi, unfortunately the amount of insulation needed for these gloves to provide adequate warmth, means they do not work with smartphone touch screens.

How do I take my hand length measurements? For the deep winter glove

Asked by: Jerrybb
Hi, please use either the print off size chart or use a tape measure to take your knuckle and hand length measurements. The hand length measurement is from your wrist to the end of your middle finger.

Is it essential to wear the merino liner with this glove?

Asked by: Jakehirst
Hi, you do not need to wear the Merino Liner with this glove. They are very comfortable with or without a liner. You would wear a liner in extremely cold conditions.

If you are going to use use the merino linear under these gloves, should you go up one size?

Asked by: Wickstrom
Hi, there is no need to size up in the Deep Winter glove when paired with the merino liner.

If my finger lenght is at the higher range of L (21cm), but knuckles mesurement is at the lower range of M (21cm), which size would you recommend I'd pick for Deep winter gloves, and also overmitts to be worn over. Thank you

Asked by: Pemorin
Hi, we would suggest the size L for the Deep winter glove as the finger length is the important factor in fitting. If paring the Deep Winter Glove with the overmits please size up for these.
