Colorado Retreat

5th - 9th 八月 2018

High times in America’s greatest mountain range.

If you think you’ve been high on a bike, think again: riding in the Colorado Rockies will take your cycling to a whole other level. From the two luxurious Retreat hotels (one in the hippy-chic town of Aspen and the other in the ski resort of Vail) our guests will be starting their climbing at around 2,400m (8,000ft) – and the renowned Independence Pass, the highest point of the trip, tops out at 3,687m (12,095ft)! When they’re not out on the bike, they can enjoy the hotels’ terraces and hot tubs, the fine restaurants serving global cuisines in both towns, and, who knows, they may even spot a pro athlete or two at the ‘après ski’. Thanks to Rapha’s trademark level of service and attention to detail, they’ll be leaving recharged and refreshed, and with a good block of altitude training under their belt.

Single occupancy — NT$ 140,000 per person
Double occupancy — NT$ 120,000 per person

Who is it for?

Rapha Travel pioneered the idea of the cycling Retreat, a luxurious break where the emphasis is as much on unwinding and enjoying stunning surroundings as it is on challenging yourself on the bike. With exclusive accommodation in which to stretch out, and the best regional specialities, local wines and culture, the Retreats set a standard that other trip providers cannot match. Rapha Retreats are always based in one stunning location, for the ultimate in stress relief, and you can tailor-make the riding itinerary to suit you. Choose 150km over the high mountains, or a gentle coffee spin before an afternoon of relaxation; guided or solo, it’s up to you. Non-riding partners are welcomed along to share the experience with you.

How Hard is it?

Retreats suit all types of riders, except for those who want packed days and relentless riding. Although you will have the chance to do big days in the saddle and test yourself on amazing roads, your time can be as demanding or as gentle as you like: wine tastings, market trips, swimming and massages are examples of indulgences that are positively encouraged. You’ll return home fitter and happier, and recharged in mind and body.

Customer Testimonials

Lots and lots of fun riding and inspirational discussions and dinners.

— Retreat Provence, 2015

It can’t have been easy to make a week away abroad so seamless with a diverse group of riders, but you made it so. The rides each day, the bike set-ups, the coffee stops, the lunches, the trips out to the Monastery and Siena were all delivered with accuracy and style. But I never felt I was on a conveyer belt, having to hit a tight schedule.

FAQ

Am I strong enough for the trip?

All our trips are physically demanding, but some are harder than others. Retreats are among the most relaxing. Our guides, soigneurs and mechanics will support every rider to go beyond their usual level of riding. Each individual trip is rated for difficulty.

Can I rent a bike?

We have a fleet of top-specification hire bikes available for rent on our European departures. They cost £50 per day. We ask that guests requiring a bike tell us as far as is possible in advance, so we can guarantee the right size is available, and also to send us your fit measurements, so our mechanics can set up the bike for you ready for the start of your trip. If you’re renting a bike you need to remember to bring your helmet, pedals and saddle to your trip start.
