Tour Down Under 2012 Passport

To celebrate the 2012 Santos Tour Down Under, which begins on Sunday 15th January, Rapha have devised a group of rides around Adelaide. Led by experienced local riders, the five routes will explore some of the most spectacular riding in the world. It will be a tough and scenic journey from the historic Adelaide Hills, along the rugged coastline and toward the famous winemaking region of the Barossa Valley. And each day, the riding party will be positioned at the best vantage points to cheer on the riders as they race for the ochre leader's jersey. The final ride will culminate in a party on Willunga Hill for the penultimate stage of the Tour.

Meeting point for each of the stages is at Red Berry Espresso in Adelaide for that all-important pre-ride fuel. Simply turn up at the stated time to join the ride.

Ride Details:

STAGE ONE

Date: 17th January 2012

Ride: Some classic climbs through the Adelaide Hills. Then shoot down the Gorge and back to Prospect to watch the start of Stage One.

Meeting place: Red Berry Espresso.
Time: 7am for coffee. 7.30am rolling.
Distance: 75km approx.

STAGE TWO

Date: 18th January 2012

Ride: A hilly scenic loop through beautiful Mt Lofty. Watch the race for three laps of Mt. Stirling and then ride back to Adelaide with the pros.

Meeting place: Red Berry Espresso.
Time: 8am for coffee. 8.30am rolling.
Distance: 70km approx.

STAGE THREE

Date: 19th January 2012

Ride: A shorter day along the coast and back to Unley to watch the start of Stage Three. Join us after the start to watch the race on tv over a cool drink. Time to rest up for tomorrow’s big adventure.

Meeting place: Red Berry Espresso.
Time: 7.30am for coffee. 8.00am rolling.
Distance: 50km approx.

STAGE FOUR

Date: 20th January 2012

Ride: This is a big day out! Climb out of Adelaide through Gorge Rd and through the beautiful Chain of Ponds to Kersbrook. We will stop to watch the race pass by here and again 20kms up the road at Williamstown before heading toward the Barossa Valley and the KOM at Menglers Hill. The pros may catch us on the homeward run back to the city.

Meeting place: Red Berry Espresso.
Time: Meeting 8.15am. Rolling 8.30am.
Distance: 150km approx (be prepared for 180km).

STAGE FIVE

Date: 21st January 2012
Ride: Party at Willunga. Today’s ride will be hosted by Norwood CC. Join us as we wind our way to Willunga Hill for the biggest party of the TDU. There will be bbqs, coffee and refreshments, music and a great vantage point to cheer the riders as they climb the gruelling Old Willunga Rd.

Time: 7am for coffee. 7.30am rolling.
Distance: 120km approx.
