Tony Pereira

Tony Zoobomb-Icepick Pereira was born in 1969 in Neptune, New Jersey. He enjoys surprise endings – good surprises with light-hearted jabs at who ever is listening – and the pursuit of quality. Both motivate him to never cut corners.

It all started with a wobble when Tony’s father let go, with a push, of the Tony’s proverbial saddle sending Tony metaphorically and otherwise, on down the road. Fourteen years of BMX and neighborhood cruising later, Tony’s bike loving fate, once again, was sealed by dad. This time in the form of keys (ownership) to a brand-new never-ridden-before MTB. Tony’s cat’s name is Ripper.

Tony believes the continental assemblage provides several different perspectives on what motivates all of us to swing a leg over and pedal. And what drives us to ride more.

“There is so much more to cycling than road racing, neon kits and doping scandals. And guidebooks rarely give you a good sense of the feel of the ride. You get your map and directions but what about the locals and time capsule markets along the way, or the decreasing radius turn at the bottom of a 10 mile descent?"

Tony lives in Portland, Oregon for the cyclocross, coast range, cascades, frame builders, amazing bike shops, great food, Stumptown Coffee, IPA, pedalpalooza, short track MTB racing, and zoobomb! All this topped-off with some of the most welcoming, genuine and independent people he’s ever met and he’s staying.
