The Festive 500: The winners

The wait is over. We can now reveal the winners of the Festive 500. It was very difficult deciding who would take the top spots, so if you have any problems with who we've awarded prizes to, forget it. It's all in the name of riding (and winning). To view all the entries please visit our Facebook page, Twitter and older blog entries.
_______
4th Place
In a fourth place prize-spot is Rupert Cox of California, because he's 12 years old and many grown men (including me) failed to complete the 500. He wins a 2010 Rouleur Annual.
_______
3rd Place
In third place it's Emily Brock from the States with her blog diary of completing the 500, Emily wins a pair of Winter Gloves (looks like she needs some).
_______
2nd Place
Second is Daniel Carruthers. Some pretty crucial riding here, clocking 726km in China no less. You win a Hope Light (no wonder he's smiling).
_______
1st Place
But top of the podium is Bjarte Bjørgen Olsen from Norway with this rather tidy film. Bjarte wins a bundle of Deep Winter Tights, Winter Jersey and Winter Hat. Let's hope he's thawed out by now.
And all the people listed below will be receiving special edition woven badges. If your name is not there and you think you deserve one, get in touch. NB: Make sure your address details are registered on the site so we can send you your prize.
Once again, congratulations to everyone involved.

Great stuff and congratulations to all who finished.
I'm on that list and registered on the site, but alas I did not finish the 500K. I managed about 150KM on the bike (another 100 running!) but the wind was too dangerous on the days I had planned to ride. Looking forward to next year!

Doh, I posted my ride deets on the RCC forum, can I still claim a woven badge?
Congrats to the winners and all entrants, well deserved, smashing entries.

Does that list encompass all of the qualifiers? If so, how does one get their badge? Thks.

Thanks so much, guys!
I rode most of the Festive wearing some warm but tattered ice climbing gloves I've had since the nineties. By the last day of the 500 the right glove had developed a big hole between the thumb and forefinger, and the linings on both of them had ripped clean out. Some beautiful Rapha winter gloves are certainly very welcome.

Whether or not I took up the Festive 500 challenge itself, connecting with people from around the world in words and pictures made for a terrific event. Thanks, Rapha, for coming up with what was a great holiday gift.

Well done to the winners! Nice to read about other people's everyday rides.
Rapha dudes: I thought for sure that I'd be in the badge-worthy first 100! I even finished a day early: https://nyctoli.wordpress.com/2010/12/29/rapha-500km-challenge-recap/

Thanks again Rapha. Congratulations to the winners. You and everyone else were inspirations for me to get out there and ride more than I had in years. And your photos inspired me to dust off my camera, too. Best Christmas Holiday in recent memory.

Great challenge guys, congrats to the winners and indeed everyone who attempted. Although I missed the magic mark this year, reading the stories and catching the videos has most definitely inspired me to put more focus into this next festive season.
P.s. Any plans for Easter???

Please Rapha, I give you so much love…how can you forget me? I completed the 500 (510km total) and posted daily to Facebook and/or Twitter (with #rapha500). Then followed up that 7-day run (flew coast to coast one day, so riding was out) with another 320km the next week.
I'm tired and need a badge to sew on my napping blanket. Please…

Congrats to the winners and everyone who participated. I really enjoyed reading the post and especially to Bjarte. The video was very well done and made those of us who complained about riding in the Northeast (of America) blizzard look like whiny babies.
@Joe Hall: I'm registered on the site as Guan Seng Eng but I'm on Facebook I'm Mike Eng… Just wanted to make sure you can find my address. Really looking forward to the badge.

Well done everyone. Seeing the camaraderie displayed here and throughout all the Rapha500 posts is what it's all about. Credit to the organisers, designers and contributors. I'm looking forward to seeing someone riding their adorned badge with pride. Agree with others about doing it again at Easter or Summer (please)

@joe hall - Hi Joe. I think my Rapha 500 story is worthy of a badge - if only for the fact that I had to adjust my riding style due to road rash, a chipped elbow and bruised hip. I had to spend four days bikeless in Sweden so started on the 22nd and finished on the 31st (not strictly within the rules, I know, but if we all conformed, we wouldn't get anywhere, would we?). You used one of my photos. You know the one: 'The descent of this 1-in-4 hill was only half the story….". I posted my rides at http://classic.mapmyfitness.com/user_profile?u=317820906, and for convenience the 'theoretical' total was 298.12 miles. I forgot to start my Garmin after a cafe stop, meaning fifteen miles were forgotten.
Ironically the injuries occurred at the bottom of the same 1-in-4 hill, later in the week. The snow had melted, to be replaced by black ice. So, 40mph combined with ice and cyclist led to a Tour de France style descending pile up. My new Rapha winter jersey survived unscathed - there is a God of Cycling - bike and rider have now recovered.
Thanks for a great challenge. In the words of a famous cyclist, and in the best sense, "Vous etre assassins!"
