The Art of Peter Rubijono

By Jeremy Dunn • 11th August 2009 02:07am • Posted in Art & Design

He goes by many names. Hans-Poot, Rubi, and even, when he worked on a fishing boat in Alaska, "Billy Crystal." Then there are the various and sundry mispronunciations, but either way you slice it, Peter Rubijono is a character in the truest sense of the word.

Look through the bios of the East Coast Continental riders and you will find portraits of each of the riders. Compliments of Pete.

Now, depending on the day of the week, Mr. Rubijono can be found somewhere in or around the Boston area. He will either be turning a wrench alongside the best in the business, blasting packages through traffic as a courier, or putting images like these to paper.

His drawings delve into the fantastical pretty rapidly. His current show titled Schematica Futurtrauma is right at the point where reality and the fantastic merge. Bikes, boats and birds all blend together with schematic drawings of engines and parts to create these displaced characters. Visual representations of things to come.

His artwork is currently adorning the walls of Bloc11 Café in Somerville, MA. Where it will be displayed until the end of the month. So, if you're interested in some great coffee, food, and amazing artwork go check it out. For a closer look check out the Embrocation Blog.
