Get on your indoor trainer and attempt to bash out 10km in 10 minutes.

Joe Hall

24th September 2009 03:04pm

That's 60km an hour! … Ok.

Gavin Campbell

24th September 2009 03:37pm

That is Ok Joe, your a big lad. I don't reckon sustaining 37mph on rollers for ten minutes is too bad… well who knows?

Joe Hall

24th September 2009 03:51pm

Perhaps it's a job for the Campbell pistons… At this rate the Gents Cap is yours!

Jørgen Flor

average 10 kmph in 10 minutes on rollers. standing.

tie surgical tubing to you and a wall and attempt to go ten feet..

or; ten rapha bibs on top of each other while doing 10 minutes on the rollers. preferably going from small to large sizes..

Gavin Campbell

Good one Mr Flor… Sweaty!

10 minutes to fix a puncture - blindfolded.

You must take the wheel off, locate the puncture, fix it and replace wheel. Boom.

Reapeat ten times: 1 Down an Espresso, 2 Run a circuit of the Imperial Works Criterium & 3 Remove one of the ten bibs you'll start with and cycle one circuit on a Brompton? Survive and be a true urban Ironman.

Scenario: Two flat tires (front and rear) mounted on bike. Must fix the flats (i.e, replace both tubes not patch) and remount on bike in 10 minutes. The newer the tire, the better.

Or…consume 10 energy gels in 10 minutes (flattened packages).

Hello constipation!

Joe Hall

24th September 2009 04:48pm

I'm into the 'Imperial Works Ironman' scenario and the fixing flats challenge was one we considered, but blindfolded? hmm…

The ten energy gels was also considered but for health and safety reasons (the H&S of my colleagues that is) we decided it was a bad idea.

What kind of energy gels do you recommend?

chris mooney

24th September 2009 05:01pm

Maybe GU…the consistency is not as tacky as others and the taste is ok; also might be a bit smaller too.

Either way, any energy gel available would work. As for H&S, not nearly as risky as espresso. Damn that was ballsy!

Head out and photograph the ten most beautiful bikes you can find in ten hours, on the roads, in shops, or in your garage.
Try not to get arrested!

connect 10 riders with bungy cord and ride for 10 min.

What is it? What is it? The waiting is killing me!

From Rouler Issue #7 'Wrapped'. Based on Rohan Dubash's tips, attempt to wrap bar tape in less than 10 minutes. Any color, it doesnt have to be white.

Why not try Helvellyn in the lakes. The challenge is who can get to the top with the least amount of times you put your foot on the floor - http://www.mtbbritain.co.uk/lake_district_mountain_biking_helvellyn.html

If you go with the Ironman challenge, the Blog video track could be 'The Final Countdown' by Europe? In keeping with Ironman, appropriate headgear: swimming cap & goggles? If only Hugh Porter was available!

Matthew Shaw

Sprint around Parliament Square before the 10th 'bong' of Big Ben at 10 P.M. (or 12 PM to give you a fighting chance)?

Matthew Shaw

25th September 2009 11:43am

Apologies for double posting. (BTW Bikely makes it 343 meters, 10 chimes last 35 seconds, so that makes a 35kmh sprint, RLJ permitting)

Phil McHoul

25th September 2009 12:20pm

To the list I would add Chris Boardman:
Olympic gold, Jens Lehmann, hour record, Gan, Credit Agricole, The Professor, Hoylake, Lotus, and best of all; he was clean, honest rider.

Break the 10 "Euro" cycling commandments, and then dare to front public for 10 minutes:

The commandments in random order:
No black socks (especially high ones)
No Helmet Visor
Don't show skin between arm warmer and jersey.
Don't show skin between leg warmer and jersey.
Never use 2 big water bottles on your bike
No saddle bag
No vent cap on the tubes
No white lycra
No hairy legs
No world champion jersey if you haven't earned it

Joe Hall

25th September 2009 01:38pm

Roar, that is a good one. However, we don't have a helmet with a visor anywhere at Rapha HQ!

Hugo Raymond

25th September 2009 01:56pm

Why not dare to be different and on the commute home stop for ten red lights in a row?

Tim Bishop

25th September 2009 02:49pm

The 'Imperial Works Pursuit': Can you lap a fold-up bike 10 times in less than 10 laps of the works? You decide the headstart the fold-up gets!

Tim Bishop

25th September 2009 03:08pm

Sorry for the 2x posting, IT glitch not overenthusiasm!

Joe Hall

25th September 2009 03:26pm

Phil, Chris Boardman is indeed worthy of being in the top ten. Please note this is not a definitive list. I'd invite readers to list their top ten if they like.

Tim Bishop

25th September 2009 06:16pm

Joe, who won?

Joe Hall

25th September 2009 06:18pm

One moment please.
