Rapha Condor Sharp squad for 2010

Towards the end of 2009, the Team brought a new title sponsor on board, Sharp, making the name of the 2010 squad Rapha Condor Sharp. Retaining a significant number of talented riders from the 2009 season, despite approaches from other teams, manager John Herety has also made several new additions to give a formidable line up.

The 2010 lineup includes the services of 2009 National Road Race Champion Kristian House, Elite Circuit Race Series winner Dean Downing, Olympic bronze medalist Chris Newton, Darren Lapthorne, Tom Southam, African Champion Dan Craven, Ben Greenwood and Matt Cronshaw.

New arrivals for 2010 were Britain’s Graham Briggs (who rode for the team in 2008) and recently turned pro Jonathan Tiernan Locke. Also joining the squad were two Australians, Zak Dempster and Dean Windsor.

The strength of this new look roster has ensured Rapha Condor Sharp were competitive on all fronts – internationally and at Premier Calendar events. With strong crit racer Graham Briggs back in the mix plus the acquisition of Dean Windsor, who is one of the top Australian crit riders, the team were practically unstoppable at criterium races this this year with numerous victories in the Tour Series and the National Elite Circuit Race Series.

The continental calendar started with victory in a stage of the Tour of Taiwan, and some hard days in the Tour of Normandy in France, amongst others. The British Premier Calendar races started well with Chris Newton winning the Scottish Tour of DoonHame and the Queen of the Premier Calendar, the Lincoln GP. Namibian signing Dan Craven took victories in Ireland at the Ras, Shay Elliott and in a clean team sweep of the podium with the Chas Messenger outside London.

The 2010 campaign continued with a win coming almost every weekend, leaving fans on the edge of their seats during the Tour Series and the Nocturnes, with House taking the Edinburgh win. The Elite Circuit Series saw the boys in black sweeping up the wins and podium places, with the Colne, York and Richmond GP victories all going to Team riders. To top all this off, Chris Newton has been crowned the overall winner of the 2010 Premier Calendar.

With just the Mi Aout Bretonne stage race in France and Tour of Britain coming up in August and September, the remainder of the season promises continued success with many more victories and tough but stylish racing from the Rapha Condor Sharp team.
