Rapha Condor Sharp squad for 2010
Rapha Condor have announced the names for their 2010 squad. Retaining a significant number of talented riders from the 2009 season, despite approaches from other teams, manager John Herety has also made several new additions to give a formidable looking line up.
Britain’s No. 1 ranked team retain the services of National Road Race Champion Kristian House, Elite Circuit Race Series winner Dean Downing, Olympic bronze medalist Chris Newton, Darren Lapthorne, Tom Southam, African Champion Dan Craven, Ben Greenwood and Matt Cronshaw.
New arrivals for 2010 are Britain’s Graham Briggs (who rode for the team in 2008) and recently turned pro Jonathan Tiernan Locke, who will look to flourish in a very strong team. Also joining the squad are two Australians, Zak Dempster and Dean Windsor.
The strength of this new look roster will ensure Rapha Condor are competitive on all fronts – Internationally and at Premier Calendar events. With strong crit racer Graham Briggs back in the mix plus the acquisition of Dean Windsor, who is one of the top Australian crit riders, the team will be unstoppable at criterium races this coming season.
The continental calendar will start with the Tour de Vaucluse in France followed by the Tour of Taiwan, Tour of Normandie, and the Tour of Bretagne amongst others. The first British Premier Calendar races will be the Tour of the Reservoir, Tour of Doonhame (formerly the Girvan) and the UCI 1.2 East Midlands Classic.
Last season was a huge success with the team competing on five different continents: Asia, Australia, Europe, America and Africa. Kristian House won the National Road Race Champion’s jersey, Dean Downing bagged the overall title of the Elite Circuit Race Series and Simon Richardson was victorious at the Ras in Ireland, with the whole team performing outstandingly there. The team also won four rounds of the Tour Series, Matt Cronshaw won the Blackpool Premier Calender and Darren Lapthorne and Matt won stages of the Tour de Beauce in Canada. Next year promises to continue this success with many more victories and tough but stylish racing from the Rapha Condor team.
