アルデンヌを抜けたステージは多少の起伏があるがスプリンターのステージとなるだろう．落車が重なるツール序盤．落車と言えば1991年のツール・ド・フランス、ステージ2のレイムスを制したのは「タシケントの恐怖」と呼ばれたジャモリディーン・アブドゥジャパラフ．強気にスプリンターとして悪評な彼は最終ステージのシャンゼリゼでもっとも強烈な印象を残したスプリント落車をする．少々傷ついたが自力でゴールラインを通過してマイヨ・ヴェールを最後まで着たのであった．
