“Our helmets are the best helmets ever made, period, end of discussion. Any debate on the matter is just banal noise.
And the shoes, whatever our initial thoughts and existing proclivities might have been, proved themselves superior on the banks and in the shallows of an untamed mountain river. A river, flush with snow melt, and left unsupervised for the winter, that is now running a new course back and forth across, and in some cases through, our road. The road to the top of Jacks and then Stevens Pass.
We portaged and forded in our carbon soled shoes for an hour or so.
On the other side, we mounted back up and finished our 100 mile ride. And the next day we rode 60 miles, like nothing ever happened. They’re comfortable, light, fast and stiff like what you’d expect from a road shoe. But as pretty as they are, and they are pretty, they don’t take shit from rouge mountain rivers and that, in my book, is what it’s all about.”
