A Classic Reborn

The Classic Jersey was Rapha’s first ever product. A bold expression of the company’s mission to create the world’s best cycling apparel, it changed the industry. Predominantly black and cut from an unorthodox merino-wool-based fabric, Bicycling Magazine’s Editor Bill Strickland declared it the ‘best bike jersey the world has ever seen.’

Twelve years in the making, Rapha introduces a new generation, the Classic Jersey II. Brought up to speed for 2016, this highly evolved design is cut from a new proprietary merino-wool-based fabric, milled to Rapha’s exact specification. Called RPM150 (Rapha Performance Merino, the 150 indicates grams per square metre), it is lighter, softer and more breathable than generic merino-blends, adaptable to a huge range of conditions.

Not stopping at the fabric, the construction of the jersey has also improved with a reworked fit and sections bonded rather than stitched. This reduces weight and bulk even further.

About the new RPM150 fabric

Rapha Performance Merino 150 or RPM150 (the 150 indicates grams per square metre) has been created to be the most versatile cycling fabric in the world. With a lighter weight than before for more conditions and climates, it has improved next-to-skin softness and comfort. Helping your body breathe in hot conditions and insulating when the temperature drops, this fabric is a product of Rapha’s tireless R&D to create the world’s best cycling apparel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Different but great I have a Classic Jersey as well, and they're a bit different. The cut is much slimmer and the fabric is more lightweight. A great jersey on its own - but it's not the same classic jersey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic jersey does what it's designed to do Great fit, great styling, everything functions well, the zippers. Pockets at ideal height to reach into. For me could do with being an inch or two shorter in the back being 5'9. Real test was on a recent 80miler I couldn't even feel I was wearing it, it's so comfy. I want to buy them all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Found: The best cycling jersey After looking at, purchasing and using a number of Jerseys - this has to be the best Jersey I have found. The fit is perfect, the feel of the material, the way it cools/warms and the looks - there is no other jersey. I have found it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality garment Wore this on Sunday on probably one of the hottest days this year in Scotland - done the job extremely well. Love the attention to detail on the jersey - plenty of pockets & zipped pocket for valuables too.

Hi all, I have a brevet jersey in a medium, which as described is more of a comfort fit than a race fit. Would you advise to stick with a medium for this jersey. Would it be a similar fit or slightly more fitted.  Many thanks.

Asked by: Pclarke61
Hi, we suggest that it is always better to refer to the size guide as far as possible. With the information you have provided, we would suggest you try a Medium as per your Brevet. Should you need to exchange, we have a 90 days return period on new/unused garments.

How does the classic jersey and shorts compare to the core and brevet?

Asked by: Seanfisher
Our Classic Range is our best comfort fit range, followed by the Brevet which is quite similar. Our Core range is slightly tighter and best explained as a fit between the Brevet and Pro Team.

Can you specify the difference on dimensions of size M versus size L. I ordered M size and feels like it is a bit tight on chest, neck, but I am afraid L would be too loose... I am 179 cm, 101 chest, waist 90. Thank you!

Asked by: RazvanC
With the chest dimension you have provided the recommendation based on our size guide would be to try a large size. We do have a 90 day returns policy so if the garment doe snot meet with your specifications then you are able to return the Jersey to us.

Hi could you confirm if the black/black jersey has the special edition embroidery on the back? I'm hoping it doesn't as per the pictures on the website but have seen some reviews showing the  special edition jersey with the embroidery. Many thanks

Asked by: arc73
We do not have any special edition embroidery on the back of this garment.

There are grippers at the waist hem to keep the garment in place.

Hi, I have the 1st classic jersey in a size medium and it fits me perfectly. Is the new jersey the same size/fit? Thanks

Asked by: Ross84
The Classic Jersey II is just slightly more structured than the first generation of classic jerseys. So you would still be the same size but the Classic Jersey II would fit just a tad more on the fitted side.

Hi, is this a summer jersey that could be ware in 90 degree Fahrenheit weather?

Asked by: Elias
Hi, this jersey is a three season jersey. It is hard to advise an exact temperature as it depends on your own temperature regulation and exertion level. However, this jersey can be used from roughly 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit.
