Paul Smith interview in Bicycling

By Slate Olson • 9th July 2009 03:32pm • Posted in Art & Design

Appears that Paul shares the Rapha London perspective on black socks on the bike.

While we have been told it's not right, the consensus in the US office is that dark socks look alright on the bike. It's not just Lance, just look at David Millar's socks today. Perhaps because of the rain, or perhaps he's come around…

So. Rapha tempt us with black socks, just as a test.

However, seems Sir Paul would like to see an all black kit, with white socks no doubt.

Black socks? What does Sir Paul know about design :-) God bless him he's a hero!

Paul Smith is a design god so I believe the colour of sock debate is over, white they should be!

How cool would it be if PS was given free reign to design the kit for the new team that David Brailsford is putting together for next year? Black jerseys with a multicolour stripe reminiscent of world champs rainbow jersey anyone?
