“We lunched around a group of picnic tables, tree stumps and red Adirondack chairs just outside the lodge. I ate one of Ben’s rice cakes in an Adirondack. It was comfortable and seductive and I was quickly lost in thought, remembering all the weeks and weekends I spent here as a teenager, swimming in the brisk, silky lake.
