"Participating in ultra-marathon cycling events, I became all too familiar with that somber view of exhaustion, when one approaches the point of complete depletion; when the body has been pushed beyond all reasonable expectations, the face has become hollow, the cheeks and eyes sunken, the legs, twitching and spasmodic, slipping into and out of searing cramps. This was what the Continental was reduced to during the Litchfield ride. Toward the end of the route, when the road would kick up, you could see once-smooth pedal strokes become forced, then abruptly jerk to a stop as the rider is seized by a leg cramp. The heat, the hills, the gravel—if suffering is the standard then this was an epic display of cycling." - Rich Bravo
"Sunset Rock Road, how did no one know that this was going to be THE Fricking climb of the day? And it didn’t end. Ever. Like really. Ever." - Jeremy Dunn
"When the rain stopped we walked over the road to a small village store with a big covered porch, The woman who was sat watching the down pore stands up and laughs at us as we squelch our way up the steps to her store. She is a fat but jolly woman who looks at us as if we are aliens, she clearly has absolutely no understanding of why we would ever want to do this to our selves. She whips up some awesome sandwiches though." - Piers North
