Part 1 - Smelling the Roses

"The only mechanical that I had all day was a double flat on a steep descent near the end of the ride. Initially I wasn't too worried about the fact that I had given out all my spare tubes to flatted riders throughout the day…I became a little concerned when I realized that the descent was too steep and no one could actually stop to give me a tube…I'm sure it was a great picture…me carrying my double flatted bike and running through the forest in road shoes."
- Jeremy Dunn

"The muddy climbs I could handle, the descents I found far more stressful, Action and JD disappeared into the distance as if they were on a recently paved road, all I could do was hang on and replay a mantra in my head, "just let the bike find its own way, let the bike run, let it find its own way" I don't know who told me that but it dosen't work, I thought I was going as fast as I dared until I was nearly taken down by a girl who thundered past me on a mountain bike, I was almost sure she was laughing at me."
