Developed for Team Sky’s Classics specialists

If the thought of freezing wet hands on a long day in the rain is enough to put you off getting out the door, consider the Pro Team Neoprene Gloves, Rapha’s latest innovation in hand protection.

Racers know that trying to keep hands dry when riding in the rain is a losing battle – even the bulkiest gloves only stay dry for a couple of hours, and the extra layers of insulation and water-proofing can compromise handling skills and make it nearly impossible to eat. The Pro Team Neoprene Gloves solve this problem.

Inspired by wetsuits, the neoprene and merino construct traps a small amount of water close to the skin while blocking out the cold and wind. This makes for a thin, comfortable glove with great dexterity and warmth, perfect for racing – they are used by Team Sky during the Belgian Classics – and training in the rain.

Neoprene used against the skin tends to lead to an uncomfortable and clammy feeling, so these gloves are lined with fine merino wool. Merino can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet to the touch – synthetic fabrics typically feel wet after absorbing only 2-3% of their weight – meaning that the lining feels dry for longer. As well as adding comfort, the lining is naturally anti-bacterial.

The palms of the gloves are cut from 2mm-thick neoprene, allowing for better control of the bars and shifters, with a 3mm-thick back panel for extra protection against the wind and cold weather. To prevent water ingress, the seams are constructed with a ‘blind stitch’ that doesn’t fully penetrate the material, and are then filled with insoluble glue.

Due to their low-profile compared to other foul-weather gloves, the Pro Team Neoprene Gloves can easily be stored in a jersey pocket, making them a great just-in-case option on changeable days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gloves I bought these gloves for cycling in the wet and I am not disappointed. I am pleasantly surprised how warm they keep my hands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent gloves for the damp and rainy days I've always been a fan of neoprene glove for the NW rainy season, but these take the cake. Great fit, and love that the cuffs are a bit longer to pull up and over your jacket. For myself personally, these gloves work down to around 35* F, and below that, I usually opt for a heavier "skiing" style glove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent special purpose glove I bought these for my 4+ hour wet training rides and spring gravel races. I immediately took them on a 3.5 hour ride in 40-31F temps with constant drizzle to medium rain. Worked great, although below 35 was pushing the temp range for me (my hands get cold easily). Yes, your hands are wet (but warm). That is how neoprene works. It's a glove intended to work in particular conditions - very long exposure to rain, where no shell will stay dry. Also, I crashed hard on that ride on wet black ice and the gloves don't have any sign of wear despite one hand being significantly bruised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I expect I often wear medium gloves, but in Rapha it is generally too tight around palm. So, I ordered large in these. This fits well but not super-tight. These gloves are exactly what they need to be. Contoured for the bike grip, dexterous as possible, relatively warm in a cold rain. They are not padded beyond the few millimeters of neoprene. They work perfectly fine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Neoprene Glove I bought these gloves after a bitterly cold and wet CX ride a couple weeks back where my gloves soaked through and my hands turned blue. I've had these out in the rain a couple times now and am very happy. Couple things to note, I find these gloves quite warm when it's not raining. They don't breathe well (nor are they supposed to). However, once it is raining hard enough that any glove is going to be soaked through this is where they shine. They are quite dextrous for a neoprene glove and while your hands stay damp, they stay warm, and that's the most important part. The fit is great and I have to say they look slick with the chain pattern on the inside of the palm. Long story short, great WET weather glove. Use it in the pouring rain, but leave it at home in exchange for something else in either a drizzle or a cold/windy dry day.

Are these gloves an improved version of last years? The stitching in last year's only last a couple of months

Should these gloves be a snug or loose fit?

Asked by: Lenski
Hi, these gloves should fit snugly. In wet conditions they will trap a layer of water close to your skin to keep you warm.

Is this too thick to use as an inner-layer for your overmitt? I'm wearing large size overmitt and usually same size for inner-layer.

Asked by: Ikko
Hi, these gloves would fit under the Overmitt, although this would be a snug fit.

Hi, can you use a touch screen while wearing these gloves?

Asked by: unvert
Hi, these gloves are not designed to be used with a touch screen. In conditions you would wear these gloves, you would most likely not want to use your phone.
