New A/W 09 Range Preview
Over the last few weeks we have been giving you some sneak peeks of the new Autumn/Winter range. Today we reveal some of the new product names soon to be launched. Keep your eye on the Rapha Blog and weekly email for more news.
Rapha Rain Jacket

Tested across the route of the Tour of California and beyond by the Rapha Continental riders, the Rapha Rain Jacket offers the highest performance in the wettest conditions. Designed to keep you dry on the bike, the Rain Jacket is constructed with rain-proof panels. A lighter material is used for the side panels that extend up the inside of the arm for maximum breathability. It is entirely windproof with a long cut tail and side-swept front zip.
Rapha Trousers
Created for the urban rider, these smart, slim-cut trousers are tough enough to survive the rigours of the winter commute but also stylish enough to be worn off the bike. Features include a reinforced seat panel and key-fold pocket. A long awaited product.
Rapha Overshoes

A technical product designed for the serious rouleur, Rapha Overshoes will help outride the most punishing winter conditions. Rapha’s overshoes are made from 100% neoprene and are robust enough to endure all of the elements.
Gentleman’s Cap

A new interpretation of the classic cycling biretta, the Rapha Gentleman’s Cap is designed for the urban riding dandy. Available in three exclusive designs, each cap boasts its own unique style and combines innovative fabrics with exquisite finishing.
Rapha Legwarmers
Made from fleece-backed Roubaix fabric, leg warmers offer more extensive coverage than Rapha’s popular knee warmers and are designed for hard winter training rides.
Essentials Case
Ideal for training and social rides, this latest edition to Rapha’s luggage range is the perfect storage for vital riding items. Made from a robust leather, the case easily fits a spare tube and multi-tool and protects phone, money and cards from the elements.
Knitted Hat

Inspired by the classic Belgian style, this new version of a winter hat is made from luxury lambs’ wool and feature a contrast stripe and foldable earband. Looks good on the cobbles or in the Café.

Oh well. Just when I thought I had everything covered you go and develop a whole load of must have for the winter. As someone living in wet brussels I can see the rain coat and shoe covers getting hammered in a few weeks!!!

More vivid colours, I like it! The red/white hat will go perfectly with my bike! Marvellous! Hope the rain capes on view in st 13 of this yr's TDF weren't the inspiration for cape..

The rain jacket looks very nice, filling the gap left by the 2007/08 Stowaway jacket. Not sure that white is the right colour choice, however!

There will be a more expansive range preview, with items becoming available, from next week. The Rain Jacket will be available in a darker colourway too. Testing revealed that if you rode fast enough, the Winter White Rain Jacket didn't actually get dirty at all, very much.

It seems silly but I am really looking forwards to the essentials case. I know it's dumb to be caught without money, ATM card and insurance card so I carry them around but they get bulky. I usually leave my wallet at home so that means putting the cash and cards in a plastic baggie. I am curious what the Rapha case looks like. Hopefully it's lightweight, thin, and waterproof.

i too am intrigued by the essentials case - is this a saddle bag , a top tube bag " ironman style " ? or is it for the back pocket of your jersey ? can't wait to see one . and i am definitely having a hat !!

1 of everything please!

If the essentials case is a saddle bag or seat post attachment then it would be really cool, however it sounds like an item to go in a Jersey pocket. OK for the winter perhaps but summer/ early autumn rides in humid Japan are so hot and sweaty that leather turns to a mouldy mess in minutes if it's anywhere near the body. Even a wallet in a Rapha bonk bag yields sopping wet bank notes after a short ride. Like the 'sound' of it though, even if it's only useful two seasons a year. If it's up to the great standard of other Rapha luggage items it will be nice. Put one in my shopping basket please! Trousers sound just the job for the ride to work. Bung a pair of those in too! How long will we be kept waiting before the launch? Last year it was October I think.

Now with a Condor Classico poised ready for Launch… perhaps a thread of Dandy would suite the cause.. Lotto here I come..

Having spent about 30 seconds inventing an equation that calculates bike-speed against rainfall against the colour white, I can sadly confess my soon-to-be-purchased white Rapha rain jacket will be grey within 43 seconds. Oh well. It's clearly the bike's fault. Hague Out.

can't WAIT for the A/W product drop…just like what Paul said, "1 of everything please!"

Like Paul and Brian, I third that, "1 of everything please." As for a white rain cape, you got my vote. Gilet and jerseys can testify; all you need is a good wash and a little TLC after 'merckxing them hills'!
Excellent work guys,

Just when I thought I had enough apparel-related cycling stuff . . . I find out once again that I don't! Especially like the white rain jacket, but I'm likely to end up with at least one of most everything (like everyone else).

"Are bears Catholic?" I think I have a new favourite saying.

@Tim…i'm with you…the first thing i checked this am was the rapha site…sadly, no new products.
rapha - any ETA you can provide? i think it's safe to say there are some very excited and anxious fans/customers awaiting the release!

"Are bears Catholic?" is slightly preferable to the other option about the head of the RC church using the woods as a toilet!
Did I miss anything?

Hi everyone, we should have the first few products available for release at the end of this week. What will they be? All will be revealed! My satellite up-link with the Captain of the super-tanker of White Rain Jackets is a bit crackly (as he is rounding the southern most point of South Africa), but they are looking good for the end of this month. The crew of the ship love them.

Rain Jacket - yes
Overshoes - yes
Knitted hat - yes indeedy
Gentlemans cap - really?
Essentials Case - maybe, need to see it, odd concept and saddle pack does it for me at the mo'.
But what I want most is some more long sleeve Fixed T's. Any chance? Mine are getting a bit ragged around the cuffs.

thanks for the update Ben! Cheers.

Be interesting to see how waterproof and breathable the jacket is. Do Rapha provide a mm hydrostatic and a mvtr for the jacket? otherwise it will be interesting to hear feedback on the performance as too many products in the industry are described as waterproof when they are only water resistant.
Nigel Sanderson
4th September 2009 04:16pm
ha, now I get it, it isn't waterproof just water resistant. which is what the current stowaway is? maybe its more water resistant than the current one?
some very nice looking new gear up on the site now…can't buy it yet which, depending on how you look at it, is a good or bad thing!!!!
