From 25th to 27th March, 18 RCC members from across Asia gathered in Penang, Malaysia, to ride the RCC Excursion: Penang. They tackled some of the most challenging climbs on the island, averaging between 7% - 12%. The toughest of which was the hors catégorie climb of Gunung Jerai, an 11km climb with 958m elevation, affectionately known as the Alpe d'Huez of Malaysia for its steep switchbacks and unrelenting gradient.
Designed to bring out the camaraderie found in road cycling, the three-day trip took members on a journey along the lesser-known cycling routes in Penang. These routes offered beautiful scenery and even an opportunity for members to explore the UNESCO heritage area of Georgetown.
