Introducing Softshell Trousers

Rapha’s Softshell Trousers are like no other product on the market. The trousers were inspired by the success of Rapha’s Classic Softshell Jacket, a product that proved it was possible to create performance cycling apparel from a softshell fabric without compromising on style. In developing the Softshell Trousers, Rapha experimented with numerous softshell fabrics until we found one that offered versatile protection from the elements without looking like it belonged on a fishing trawler.

Rapha’s Softshell Trousers are designed to be worn as a single layer for all-day riding. They are extremely windproof and highly water resistant but unlike cumbersome overtrousers, the smart, tailored fit gives them a structured shape which means they look as good off the bike as they do when riding. The lightweight fabric has been treated with a matt Teflon coating but it also has a fine ‘drill’ finish, a feature more usually found on suit-style trousers. The fully-taped seams will keep out all but the heaviest rain and the fabric also has a breathable membrane for comfort. Inside, the trousers have a soft fleece lining for great insulation.

As you’d expect from Rapha, the trousers boast numerous functional innovations, all discreetly incorporated. A one-piece seat and gusset panel, for instance, is made from an abrasion-resistant nylon to make it extremely durable, while the inside of the waistband is lined with soft gripper tape to hold your shirt or jersey in place when riding. The waistband also has a stretch neoprene panel for comfort and a reinforced belt loop strong enough to carry a D-lock.

The trousers have two front pockets with additional zipped valuables pockets both front and rear. Reflective tabs on the back and lower legs improve visibility.
