Hi-vis Evening Ride - London

By Joe Hall • 10th October 2012 03:52pm • Posted in Events

Training through the winter is essential for most but on the cold, dark evenings that are creeping in, the thought of going out alone on narrow lanes in the dark isn’t so appealing. So every Thursday evening the London Cycle Club is holding rides around Regent’s Park, bookended with fine coffee (or maybe a glass of wine) back at the Club.

And beginning this Thursday 11th we’re going distinctly hi-vis. There will be Hi-Vis Gilets to test and Lezyne lights to illuminate our laps of Regent's Park. We’ll also be introducing a new ride card to keep you training through the winter - collect six ride stamps to receive a pair of chartreuse Oversocks. For the brave there’ll be a shot of Chartreuse liquor to warm you after the ride.

WhenThursday 11th October
WhereRapha Cycle Club, Brewer Street, London
Time18.30 (arrive at 18.15 if you would like to try a hi-vis gilet)

The ride is unsupported so please bring spare inner tubes and other tools are also advised. As we are riding in groups please bring your road bike or a single speed with attached brake/s. All abilities are welcome. Please arrive 15 minutes beforehand if you want to test a Gilet.

Hey Joe,

Word of warning sir, the Freize Art Fair is currently exhibiting in Regents Park and the use of temporary traffic lights and controls on the outer circle is causing mayhem ;-)

Best

Cheers Rob. Tomorrow I will suggest 10 laps of Swains instead.

I agree with Rob, I was there last night and its pretty dangerous with lots of crowds, temporary lights and taxis dropping people off and then bunging a U-Turn out of the park. Best to avoid the park until its over unfortunately..
Cheers
Richard

Will tonight get fast like last weeks? That was a very pacey end to the night and I loved it!

See you this Thursday. Looks like it's gonna be wet again. But last Thursday was ace. Was ill afterwards - but now thought: that Rapha waterproof doesn't look so bad with mud on ;-)

Hi all. Never been to one of these before, and wondered if you have to be a member to participate? Many thanks.

Hi Jonathan,

You don't have to be a member for these rides. The Rapha guys & girls will make you more than welcome, just remember to bring lights & spares you may need. I won't be there tomorrow but hope to return in a couple of weeks.
