Hahn Rossman

Hahn Rossman (Dreamy-eyes or Hahnsome or Serge’ – all thanks to Tracy Erbeck, Aaron’s wife) was born in Philadelphia, PA. He is 38 years old and recently married. He counts waking up one morning and realizing he’s lived in the west longer than the east, riding over 200 miles in one sitting, training his first dog and having the relationship of caregiver in reverse, as a few of the more pivotal moments in his life.
He believes in whiskey and fires and telling jokes in times of stress. He is an artist and runs a small metal shop from which he builds a lot of strange and wonderful objects, some are for other artists who have never built anything that large, some are more accurately called architecture, and some are bicycles, www.alkifoundry.com. Hahn lives in a house that, depending on your perspective, is either an interesting architectural experiment or an endless construction project.
Not unfamiliar to bicycles in the context of transportation it wasn’t until he moved to Seattle that he began to view the bicycle as a tool for exploration and delight. In keeping with that, he views the Continental project as a way to focus attention on the experience of riding and testing limits. And not on the goods and services guaranteed to make you faster. He wants to both inspire and be inspired by trying new things and finding delight in what many find the mundane aspects of clothing, shelter, food - life. Hahn believes cycling to be the most beautiful expression of human potential possible, leveraged with technology. And he thinks if you’re not having fun on a bike, you’re blowing it.
He’s good at inspiring people to make bigger efforts than they were prepared to make and finding solutions (third answers) to what people thought were binary decisions – he volunteers that those are likely not unrelated. Maybe that’s why he finds inspiration in local rider is Russell Stevenson, ex-pro, leg breaker extraordinaire and epic snowboarder. Russell is fast, mean and sweeter than a cub scout mother. Hahn claims he never gets lapped by Russell in the A race without a brief chat or joke!
If the geo-political situation improves sometime soon he hopes to ride the silk road between Italy and India.

"Being fast is a funny thing, there is always someone faster! Racing really teaches you this, it’s also taught me that I was a lot faster than I thought I could be. I revel in being in form and mourn when it goes away. The rhythm of that change informs the year just like the seasons do."
