Gentlemen's Ride: Santa Monica

By Jeremy Dunn • 12th February 2011 12:50am • Posted in Events

Saturday, February 19th in Santa Monica, California we will roll out from Bike Effect, one of the most recent additions to our Retail Partner family. The ride? The Gauntlet. Despite the ominous sounding name this ride is open to one and all and purports to be a great ride up and through the Santa Monica hills. For those of us who are attending from the Portland, Oregon office we are crossing our fingers and praying for sunshine. Join us.

Ride Details:
• 45 Miles, starting and ending at Bike Effect. map
• Coffee at 8:30am – Ride departure 9am sharp
• Return to Bike Effect to view the entire Spring & Summer 2011 range
• If you're in town send us a note: rsvp@rapha.cc

Ill - we've never let a little rain stop us before. In fact we make a jacket specifically for the occasion. Ha! Hope to see you there.

Rain or shine, I'm definitely coming. For the coffee. OK, I'm coming for the ride, too, at least the roll-out. My age and my weight will weigh, well, too heavily on me to complete the entire ride before 5 or 6 p.m., and that would be on Sunday. In mid-march. In 2012.

Bike Effect is a terrific shop. I made my first visit yesterday. It's probably the crème de la crème of bikes shops in the Santa Monica/West L.A. area.

As for the weather forecast, I'm bringing a snorkel and water wings and an emergency locater beacon. (It looks worse later in the day, not so bad in the morning.) And anyway, glory through suffering, yes?
