For hard rides in the worst conditions

Now with a refined front binding for optimum comfort and fit, the Pro Team Winter Hat is constructed from a softshell fabric with a durable, water-resistant treatment, and is also windproof, offering insulation against the cold while allowing sweat to escape. Traditional winter hats can offer too much insulation for the hardest rides, leaving riders with sweaty heads - this sweat can run into the eyes, or become uncomfortably cold when it reaches exposed skin. The Pro Team Winter Hat uses a breathable rear panel to release heat from the back of the neck, and the shaped ear flaps provide insulation without impairing hearing. The hat is shaped, with a quarter-panel construction and fabric darts - more like a Rapha Cap than a winter hat - designed to reduce excess material around the ears and neck.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect This cap is beautifuly constructed and easily defends your head/ears from the elements. I wear a large Giro Synthe helmet and it fits under the helmet well and looks good once the helmet is on. I love the 'Forcats' detailling. It is actually possible to wear it comfortably with the ear flaps up or down. I use this when the weather is below 5°c and have experienced no breathability issues on longer rides abd interval sessions. Unfortunately there is STILL an issue for riders with larger heads... there is a band behind the peak that leaves a mark on my head and causes slight discomfort. It's frustrating as it is pretty much perfect in every other way. Those with medium or small heads/helmet sizes will probably be fine. I like the product so much that I am willing to put up with the minor discomfort, but do wish Rapha would sort this issue as it doesn't occur with any of my other caps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Hat But I love the hat but it is too small, yes I have a big head! I wish they made it in sizes!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best not to take off in public after a long ride.. This is a great hat in many ways: nice material that is warm and does a good job of deflecting the elements and fits well under a helmet; the ear flaps and neck warmer are just the right length. However, as others have said - and I noted but dismissed - the stiff peak (great for keeping the rain off) presses hard into the forehead, exacerbated by helmet pressure. After a medium to long ride, expect some funny looks when you're having your coffee and cake - there'll be a red indented line running along your forehead that won't fade for a while... Of course, you could just keep it on until you get home, but then you run the risk of being called a Rapha plonker for wearing a branded hat in a warm cafe....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fit My biggest problem is the brim of the cap cuts into my forehead when. Can you make this out of a softer material. And maybe a S/M M/L choice in sizing. I am sure it will keep me warm but have not worn it other than trying it on with the helmet. My other Deep Winter cap bought 4 or 5 years ago fits well and has the same problem but not so uncomfortable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Insulated and breathable I bought this product a month ago when the temperature was starting the drop. Well insulated and removes heat meaning you can get those key winter rides in. I was looking for something with a peak to help with the low sun and something to cover the ears in the cold conditions. Watch for the line across the head if worn for a while, that's the only thing that lets the product down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best cold weather cap Had lots of caps this is the best yet. I'm used to UK cold so this does not get hot, can fold up off ears when warm, also lets heat out at the back. My fav winter kit along with Brevet windblock jersey, superb stuff for our winter. I have normal size head 6ft bloke, all my caps, hats fit well, the size of this one is slightly small but it is not uncomfortable at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snug! I have used the hat once and it performs very well. It's a comfortable and snug fit and it kept me warm, without overheating.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gr Great fit, great performance, but what's up with that hand wash only?? This gets a fair because I can't throw it in the washing machine with my other stuff.

Will it stretch out at all? I have a large head and am considering returning the cap otherwise.

Asked by: Ryan Shortridge
Hi, the cap has built in elasticity but will not stretch over time.

Hi, is this hat made from a thinner material than the deep winter hat?  and is the sizing comparable? I find the deep winter hat almost too snug when under a helmet and can cause headaches.

Asked by: DanMarston
Hi, this hat is made from a thinner material than the Deep Winter Hat to better fit under helmets and will have broadly similar sizing.

Hello, what temperature range is this hat designed for?

Asked by: vincenz
Hi, it is hard to advise an exact temperature range as this will depend on your own temperature regulation and exertion level. However, this hat can be used in temperatures from slightly below 0-7/8 degrees celsius.
