High-performance cycling socks tested by pro riders
Designed for elite-level and professional racing, the Pro Team Socks combine breathability and durability. The heel and toe uses a yarn developed for robustness with the rest of the footbed constructed from an ultra-wicking fibre which is lightweight and soft. The cuff is made from a hard-wearing performance nylon which also retains colour, keeping the socks looking fresher for longer. For 2015, also available with the data print, a graphical representation of performance data collected from a Team Sky rider at their biggest race.
Like many Rapha products, underneath their simple styling, these socks are sneakily technical. The Pro Team socks are designed with a blend of five materials to hold up and look their best for a long time. The toe and heel are reinforced while the cuff’s material was chosen, in part, for it’s ability to resist taking on a dingy look.
More importantly, these socks are very, very comfortable. The medium thick (for a summer-weight) socks fit have a supportive, not constricting, fit and the material is cool, smooth and soft against the skin. They wick and breathe very well, nothing revolutionary, but better than average. After several wear-and-wash cycles, we can say that both the resistance to dirt and reinforcements work pretty well.
