Performance bib shorts designed for elite-level racing

If you are unsure of which bib shorts to choose, take a look at our new Bib Shorts Guide

Offering the same fabric, fit and construction as Rapha’s Team Sky Pro Bib Shorts, the latest Pro Team Bib Shorts have been designed in collaboration with leading riders.

Featuring pared-back styling and striking contrast details, they are made from a Lycra-based fabric which is both supportive and durable. The fabric is treated with coldblack®, a highly-technical dye that reflects the sun’s rays to keep the fabric cool against the skin. In hot conditions, this means the body needn’t expend unnecessary energy to keep cool, and can use it instead to improve riding performance. All Rapha’s pro-grade bib shorts use the same award-winning Cytech pad.

The Pro Team Bib Shorts with white decals are available in both regular and long (30mm extra leg length), tailored specifically for taller riders.

"My sense is that they will last longer than the Eurozone, that you’ll never get home from a ride wondering how you missed putting chamois cream on that one blessed spot, that you’ll never wear these with any jersey you own and look like a dork, that you’ll never regret your purchase."
Red Kite Prayer

"These bibs had one of the thickest chamois in our test, as well as the slimmest-fitting legs. We loved the tight, compressive-feeling material, and broad thigh bands, which didn’t cause sausage-leg effect despite their high level of tightness. The thick chamois was present under us while riding, making these great for cyclists who crave ever-present padding. The chamois is also well-positioned and shaped for riding in the drops, or on the bar tops. Overall, we found the bibs’ finish to be top-notch, including the stitching on the edge of the chamois, which we never felt while riding. The straps are comfortable and well ventilated, too."

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome Bibs! I purchased these shorts in the spring of this year. Extremely comfortable, excellent fit and nice details. I wore them about a dozen times over the summer. Then, I noticed a small split in the chamois at the center seam. I notified Rapha and they invited me to send them back. A few days later, they were replaced as Rapha USA said that his was unacceptable. They didn't repair, but simply replaced. Gotta love that kind of product support. The split is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not quite right I have ridden the shorts for just over a month now and am a bit disappointed more in the fit than anything else. The quality of the material is very good and the legs grip nicely, i quite like the length, slightly shorter than the norm. The issues lie in the Chamois. This may sound a bit weird, but I think the Chamois may be set back a little too far as I finding I am getting rubbing at the front. Not too bad on shorter flat rides, but on longer hillier rides I just cant seem to get comfortable. Is a shame as the quality of the kit is good, just the design is slightly off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They've improved shorts that we're already good. I bought a pair of Pro Team bibs over two years ago and whilst they are still fine it was time for a new fresh pair. The previous model had single thread stitching at the front, which, over time, had stretched the holes made as it penetrated through the fabric. The new model has much more robust multiple thread stitching at the front. The pad also seems comfier. These shorts aren't going to work for someone looking for a super relaxed pair of comfy bibs to wear all day, make no mistake they're made for aggressive riding, they're a compression style fit that are tight even on my skinny legs and the shoulder straps seem ridiculously short when stood upright, but they're the shorts I grab when I find myself with a couple of hours to spare and want to go fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly well made and comfortable I've been riding for 4 years now and clock around 8000km a year. In the beginning I used cheaper clothing then moved on the full on Castelli outfit and loved it. At one point I owned Rapha Aerosuit but the padding was too thick for my taste. This bib however is insane. It is just the right thickness of the padding, fits very tight, stays in place and is very comfortable. I'm 183cm and 79kg and the size L is just perfect. Feels slightly on the tight side but once in riding position it is perfect. The front part comes a tad higher than I was used to on my belly so it also acts as additional few centimeters of cold protection. But I have not felt too warm in these even when the temperature climbed to 25C. Overall a truly great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Supremely comfortable bibs Although aimed at more aggressive riding positions, I find these bibs my favourites for longer rides as well as short blasts. As a great fit should be, the shorts feel a bit restrictive off the bike, but spot-on as soon as you get on the bike. Sort of fit and forget. The material is pretty sturdy on the legs, quite warm for the hottest days but as I read in the UK, fine for 99% of the spring and summer. This also makes them very robust, mine get worn and washed a couple of times per week and still look as good as new months later. The pad is also lasting really well, no signs of compression after months of use. Fit is aimed at leaner riders - I'm 6'1" and 34" waist, size L is spot on for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Larger size??? Hi, i have been a great fan of your products but have been very disappointed by this most recent online purchase. I have selected the pro team shorts in XL as this is the size i currently have (purchased 12 and 18 months prior respectively). Unfortunately the latest version which i purchased appear to be larger and are somewhat loose, i am not sure if this is a change in size or manufacture issue but they are less than ideal and certainly not up to your previous standard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most comfortable bibs I own I just got back with my second long ride in these shorts and they have now become my "go-to" shorts. The chamois, while a little thicker than most, is extremely comfortable and I like the extra padding around the crotch. I also appreciate that they are covered on the inside. The leg grippers are not the wide, "rubber band" type on most shorts. Instead, they are fairly narrow, very comfortable, and never once have the ridden up on my legs. The webbing on the back panel is also very easy on the skin (as opposed to those with the suspender-type straps). I do have to say that these might run a little small in sizing. I am 5'9', 150lbs, and medium build, and they fit fairly tight on me. In fact, when not on the bike, they are tight enough to make me want to want around on my tip-toes to ease the pull (it doesn't work). However, once on the bike, the design has been perfect. If you are much taller, I would recommend going to the large. And, of course, they look great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Godd claim handling, finally! I bought the bibs in June 2015, and they had already started to heavily wear off, due to the saddle friction. Definitely much more than could be expected at the cost they come and also in comparison to Rapha competition. I would only recommend the product if the quality improved. Nevertheless I did send you the bibs, but they got lost at Rapha and I therefore received a new pair (it took a month to realise they were gone). As you may realise I have been buying loads of gear from Rapha within the last 7- year period, and do admire the pure style and performance that mostly come with it.

Is the size you need dictated by the length of the inside of your leg and not the thickness of your leg?

Asked by: SanderP
Hi, the main determinant in your choice of size should be waist circumference. Inseam length also plays a role. The shorts are made from a stretchy material to accommodate a wide variety of leg circumferences.

Hi, I live in Australia, summer is ahead. I'm looking for maximum comfort in the chamois department rather than maximum lightweightness for the hot weather. Afaik the Classic Bibs are the gold standard in comfort, do these Pro Team Bibs compare? Pls advis

Asked by: HansenPansen
Hi, the Pro Team Bib Shorts are also very comfortable. The difference is the close, race ready fit of these shorts. If your primary concern is having the ultimate shorts in terms of comfort, the Brevet Bib Shorts would be your best option.

Is the shorts supposed to feel like its sqeezing? Tried small, but it was very tight compared to what im used to, so i changed to medium, but now feels loose around stomach/waist, but is a more comfortable fit since its not squeezing as much. Whats right?

Asked by: RobertN
Hi, the Pro Team range are designed with race performance in mind. They have a close fit and will be most comfortable on the bike. If they are tight on standing, they may feel more comfortable when riding. The fit should always be assessed in a tucked position, resembling your own on the bike position. If they still feel like they are squeezing, then you should go one size up.
