Merino cycling beanie for cold days

The Rapha Merino Hat is made from a luxury merino wool to keep your head warm and comfortable even in the harshest winter conditions. The hat has a small amount of nylon woven into the fabric to make it more durable and to ensure a snug fit. The natural fibre of merino wicks sweat away from the head and the fabric is quick drying, even after a downpour.

The hat is designed to be worn with or without a helmet and the two-inch earband can be folded up to help regulate body temperature, as well as to provide some stylish versatility. The hat is finished with a black Rapha logo tab.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The one and only, go to hat. I've been wearing the black/red original version of this merino hat for many years in every conceivable seasonal condition (cycling and everyday life) and its the most useful Rapha product I own. It has lasted brilliantly with a little care when washing (30º machine and avoiding exposed velcro/zips). Its the hat that goes everywhere with me, just in case! This new one is the same quality and fit, only downside is it's not truly reversible (as the old hat is) as the small inner seam is exposed and doesn't sit flat. Apart from that a brilliant product you won't regret owning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautifully soft, and warm The hat is a lovely warm orange, and beautifully soft. It fits my head well (medium male) and is warm enough for rides close to 0 degrees C. It is stylish enough to wear off the bike. NB I ordered the hat after ordering (but before receiving) the winter collar in the same colour. They are quite different: the collar was harsher in texture, thin, and surprisingly small (tight over my medium male head). I returned the collar - but don't let that put you off buying the hat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple but very effective As the title says, this is a very simple but effective piece of kit. It fits under a helmet perfectly and adds just the right level of mofort and warmth. It wicks sweat well and as it's merino, it maintains body heat quite well even when wet. it is well constructed and the fabric is great quality in terms of handfeel and durability. These qualities make this a great value piece of kit, love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from its uber snug I bought this having survived 7 years with an old fleece beanie, therefore it was a momumental step for my head. I have not been disappointed, and have ridden in sub zero temperatures and mild and I can barely tell it is on . My old had used to cook my head and I had several tricks to regulate the heat, however with this hat i just forget i am wearing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential Winter Kit This hat is very very warm, and after a harder ride it does NOT stink. I've used it multiple days in a row without worrying about offending my coworkers. It's a little bit short and sometimes I need to pull it down to cover my ears, but that's not a huge problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful! I've ridden Dutch winters in similar hat from a competing brand for 4 years. This one has nicer feel to it, great fit under helmet, great sweat wicking quality and even after 200km a week spread across 4 days doesn't smell. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just right I bought this hat 1 month ago and I have done about 1000km around Scotland. Kept me warm but not too warm. I am always worried about overheating in the beginning but it never happens. Unless I am doing intervals.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice and comfy It's exactly what it says on the tin. It's a great hat, perfect for under the bike helmet. Very snug. But pricey for what you get. Although have taken to wearing off the bike as well so will get plenty of use.

Most cycling caps and hats don't fit my head. So I can't trust the "one size fits all" sizing comment. Do you know if this would fit someone with a 61-62 cm head circumference?

Asked by: DohSmith
Hi, the merino construction of this hat means it has a high degree of stretch and should accommodate your head size. As always we do have a free 90 day returns policy if needed.
