Belgian cycling style with versatile construction

The Rapha Deep Winter Hat has been created for the coldest training rides. Featuring the classic style beloved of Belgian hardmen, the multi-panel construction offers both an exceptional fit and a highly effective combination of breathability, water resistance and windproofing. The front panel and peak are made from a durable, windproof and water-resistant fabric, while the back and side panels use a soft, breathable material to prevent overheating. The ribbed ear guard keeps ears cosy on even the coldest days, while an additional merino lining offers additional insulation. The hat also features loops on the side panels to hold the arms of your eyewear, a vital accessory in extreme conditions. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy, warm and stylish! Very comfy, warm and stylish hat, with a great fit. I've worn it a few times now, in temps ranging from 0C to about 7C, often in high winds - it's kept me warm and comfy in all conditions. It's actually a bit too warm for me above about 6C, but the matrial breathes very well, and stays pleasant even if I overheat a bit. The wind stopping fabric on the front works extremely well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Goldilocks Hat for Grimm weather Similar in appearance to the standard Winter Hat but much more capable in ever other sense. For me a winter hat needs to keep me warm, but not too warm. And it needs to avoid me getting a chill, which this hat manages ably with the addition of a wind proof front panel. I go for a merino cap when the weather is slightly milder but when there'a bite in the air, I'll reach for the Deep Winter Hat every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty goodness I had been waiting for this to reappear in the store in hi-viz pink for a while & delighted when it arrived. Winters get a little chilly in Scotland so this should keep my head toasty

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good After more than 10 orders I've got a request: Imperial Works is asking for "Review your Rapha products". For the first time. Why now? What has happened? Ok let's go. Quality: very good, warm till -20 °C, durable after several washings, get's too warm over +5 °C Price: worth the money Sizing: one size, ok. for head circumference 60 cm Other: Products of insufficient quality, fabric or sizing +/- than announced cannot (!) be reviewed by customers. Please excuse my german accent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just right great hat - fit is excellent. the coverage is perfect, just over your ears and back of neck. the visor does not obstruct view but keeps light rain off my glasses.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did not live up to expectations. I used this deep Winter cap on three rides in the 30 to 40 degree range. I found that it kept riding up over me ears, almost too stretchy. The quality was good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only cycling hat I can wear I have never been able to wear a cycling hat as they are all too small. This one stretches to fit without being tight. The materials design and craftsmanship are superb. It is warm enough that on a 48 degree rollout I removed my long sleeved base layer and was comfortable without it. Later in the day I simply removed the hat and tucked it into my pocket. This is a great hat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from At Last, a Truly Warm Winter Riding Hat! This hat is seriously warm and an exceptional piece of kit for cold weather riding, so much so that I now wonder how I used to cope with riding without it when the temperature is low. I do run cold temperature-wise, am follically-challenged and have found this hat has made my whole riding experience in cold weather more enjoyable. The hat is made of thick insulating fabric, with a windproof front panel and does a fine job at retaining warmth whilst still allowing breathability. The peak is helpful in wet weather and can be flipped-up when riding on the drops to aid with visibility. The ear/neck band adds crucial visibility for riding in low-light conditions. Wearing under a helmet is no problem, the hat fits perfectly. For me the combination of this hat together with the Rapha Merino hat means that winter riding options are fully covered, I'd use this up to around 6 degrees Celsius and the standard merino hat fr temperatures above that.

Can this be worn under a helmet comfortably ?

Asked by: Zionistwolf
Hi, this hat can be worn comfortably under a helmet. You will just need to slightly loosen the retention system on the helmet at the back, compared to how you normally wear it.

I like your new size M/L on cycling cap. Compare to your cycling cap, how this deep winter hat fits?

Asked by: Ikko
Hi, if you like the fit of the M/L Cycling Cap then we would recommend the M deep winter hat as it is exactly the same size range. Both are 22-24in head circumference.
