Highly technical cycling gloves for cold and wet conditions

The Deep Winter Gloves are made from innovative technical fabrics and constructed for excellent protection without compromising control. The outer shell uses a windproof, stretch nylon with a Durable Water Repellent treatment, which is then filled with Primaloft insulation®. A waterproof and breathable OutDry® membrane is then bonded to the shape of the shell to give an excellent fit (as opposed to the ‘floating’ liners used in many gloves) and finished with an insulating tricot lining against the skin.

The inside of the palm features a different Primaloft® insulation, originally created for snowsports and treated with a resin so it won’t slip against your skin when gripping the bars. The outer face of the palm is made from Pittards leather, features Rapha’s trademark military-grade padding, and is reinforced in key wear areas. The gloves have elasticated cuffs, with a velcro closure designed to fit snugly around a jacket sleeve. The gloves also have reflective stripes and logos, as well as wipes on both thumbs.

Please note: If washing these gloves, once dried, glove balm should be applied to the leather panels on the palms to keep them supple. The Deep Winter Gloves are part of the Rapha Glove System and are designed to be worn with the Merino Liners and/or the Overmitts as required.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent hand protection for freezing weather I think everyone has a subjective interpretation of cold weather gear, and we all have slightly different thermostats, so variability of opinion is a given. I train and cycle year round in Canada, where some winter days see the mercury dipping to -40C. At those temperatures, the only thing that will keep your hands warm is a pogie. However, Rapha’s deep winter gloves fare reasonably well down to about -20C when paired with merino liners. A well made product, as the rest of Rapha’s offerings. A winter of constant use has left no visible wear, only a comfortable break-in of the leather. My one quibble with the glove, and with the glove “system” sizing, is that I find the deep winter gloves to be too snug when paired with a liner of the same size. This year, I purchased one size up in the deep winter gloves, and upon trying them on, this works very well paired with liners. I will look forward to many bitter cold rides this coming winter :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm fingers I have worn the Deep Winter gloves in the low 30s upper 20s with the Rapha liners. They are a better combination than the lobster gloves I was using with hand warmers. I have poor circulation and find these to help keep me on the bike. They are constructed well, but the fit is not the best for me. The fingers seem to be short for the size of the glove and cause some numbness when worn with the liners. On longer rides, by hand is sore between my thumb and first finger. Based on warmth, I am happy with my purchase. I have not worn them in damp conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The answer to cold hands in winter! Ive now been using these gloves for a couple of months for commuting and longer weekend rides in and around Glasgow. They are fantastic. Having tried many gloves over the last 10-15 years these are the best. Used on their own they keep my hands warm and dry down to roughly freezing and are in fact too warm if used much above 5 degrees. Ive often cycled this winter in temps of -5 or lower and when combined with the merino liners my hands have still been warm. I normally take a medium glove but bought the large size to combine with the medium Rapha undergloves. This combination works perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly warm These are, like most Rapha products, of the highest quality. Personally, I have long/narrow hands so usually end up caught between two sizes (adequate length with too much width around the palm/knuckles or vice versa). The finger length is great however (for me) meaning the fit is perfect. They really are extremely warm though - which is what they're supposed to be. Here in the southern UK, even for someone who gets cold hands very easily, I won't use these all that much; probably only on the few occasions where the temperature stays below 5C all day. Even then, with any reasonable effort, one's hands can easily overheat and get quite clammy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Winter Glove These are very well made, robust and warm Winter gloves. I feel the cold and have found that I need to wear Rapha's merino liners when the temperature is around freezing, but for anything above that I can wear them on their own. The cuffs are ample in length and wrap around a jacket comfortably, my only criticism is that this makes them less ideal for using in the rain when an under-jacket-cuff interface works best. But they're not designed for riding in torrential rain so this isn't too much of a consideration. For the mixed-weather UK Winter I think they are the best glove available, thoroughly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super warm Rode in 33 degree wind chill for two hours and my hands were hot at the end of my ride. I could feel the chill creeping into my feet but not my hands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally warm hands I have spent a small fortune over the years looking for winter gloves that kept my hands warm and dry. Now I can stop my search. Thanks Rapha!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from well done Fit much improved from earlier seasons. An excellent mix of movement and warmth. On/off also a pleasure - an important an often overlooked feature.

How do I take my hand length measurements? For the deep winter glove

Asked by: Jerry1
Hi, please use either the print off size chart or use a tape measure to take your knuckle and hand length measurements. The hand length measurement is from your wrist to the end of your middle finger.

Is it essential to wear the merino liner with this glove?

Asked by: Jakehirst
Hi, you do not need to wear the Merino Liner with this glove. They are very comfortable with or without a liner. You would wear a liner in extremely cold conditions.

If my finger lenght is at the higher range of L (21cm), but knuckles mesurement is at the lower range of M (21cm), which size would you recommend I'd pick for Deep winter gloves, and also overmitts to be worn over. Thank you

Asked by: Pemorin
Hi, we would suggest the size L for the Deep winter glove as the finger length is the important factor in fitting. If paring the Deep Winter Glove with the overmits please size up for these.

Could I use the deep winter cloves for alpine sking?

Asked by: rasmus
Hi, The deep winter gloves are a technical cycling glove created for cold conditions. The gloves are shaped and fitted for comfort on the bars and hoods, and feature a waterproof, breathable membrane, and leather palms. These are cycling specific gloves and as such we cannot advise if they are suitable for alpine skiing.

Sizing. Do these gloves pinch when gripping the bars, particularly in the tips of the fingers, or do they have some give (so circulation not reduced)? To wear merino liners, is size up necesary? Thks.

Asked by: TheYeti
Hi. Sized correctly for your hands via our sizing guide these gloves will not pinch and you will need not need to go up a size when worn with the merino liners
