Simple, quality bib shorts for everyday riding

‘For weekday training and commuting, Rapha have totally nailed it. Bravo all round’The Times

If you are unsure of which bib shorts to choose, take a look at our new Bib Shorts Guide

Simple, quality bib shorts to complement any ride, the main panels use a dense-knit fabric for support and modesty and laser-cut leg grippers lined with soft silicone for a close, comfortable fit. The bib section uses high-stretch material, machined efficiently for even distribution of stretch and to accommodate longer torsos. Flatlock seams are positioned carefully throughout to hold the shorts in place without chafing. The shorts are available in an entirely black colourway, or with a white bib section to prevent straps showing under a light-coloured jersey.

“The Core collection is about optimising innovative fabrics and processes across the entire collection to reduce production hours and wastage. For example, the leg-gripper trim reappears in the jersey back, the material for the zip guard is used again on the sleeve tips, and bindings use rolled edges. This means we can produce Core garments without compromise, leading to a new standard for everyday cycling apparel.”
Alex Valdman, Head of Design

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Leg grippers mean business I've had these for about a month and they are pretty good bib shorts. I especially appreciate the lower price point. The chamois feels/is the same as the classic bibs. I think they might be cut a little longer than the classic bibs and the materials are obviously different but I don't think that diminishes the quality at all so, overall, I'm pretty satisfied. The only thing I didn't like is that the leg grippers ripped my winter fur from my legs the first time I put them on. That doesn't happen with other shorts even ones that have good leg grippers. These mean business. It's nice once on the bike but shave before you put them on the first time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well constructed These are decent bib shorts. Material and overall construction is excellent. A very wide 2 inch leg flat silicone leg gripper is EXCELLENT! In my opinion i feel that the chamois is lacking personality. As technical as this short is from the wide leg gripper flat seam stitching bib strap material and the open back design, the chamois missed their mark. There are 2 thickness on the chamois the outer edge as well as a center line are the thin areas. the sit bone and front end of the chamois are a thicker padding but with no real density.Nothing technical about the pad... I feel this is more of a short ride chamois vs.all day in the saddle chamois.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal Value Perfect fit, perfect padding, perfect price. I have ridden just under 400 miles in these shorts in the last 2 weeks and can honestly say that they are most comfortable shorts in the entire Rapha range. I own 10+ pairs of Rapha shorts and approached their new budget range with some scepticism and concerns over quality. These worries were dismissed within a few miles. The fit and finish are excellent. The padding is exceptional for me and I grew more impressed with each mile. Rapha has pulled of the seemingly impossible here, a 'budget' product with a classy feel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic In comparison to the Classic Bibs, a staple go-to, the Core Bibs are more lightweight and the new fabrication techniques seem to make for a "cleaner" bit of tailoring - Rapha seems to have met their goal. I always found the chamois on the Classics to be a bit thick, but in the Core, it seems just right. The leg grips are wide and really work. They fit a little tighter than the Classics, but are not uncomfortable. (Large in Classics seems accurate for American, Core seem a little closer to Euro) Extremely well made. Clean aesthetic. All black = classic. Great bit of kit. Great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality beyond the price I bought these as I wanted a classic looking pair of Bibs to match my Tom Simpson jersey. It was important to me that they looked timeless and without obvious logo's and these certainly fit the bill. Being the cheapest of the Rapha range they certainly don't scrimp on style and also on comfort. In fact of all the Rapha Bib Shorts I have had these are the most comfortable, whether that be the pad or the overall fit. The leg grippers are broader than usual and the length is a little longer and I think this adds to the comfort. I would not hesitate in recommending these shorts, in my opinion much better than their more expensive counterparts

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I had doubts, but those were erased after a ride As I was really disappointed with the Core jersey I had my doubts considering the Core bibs also. Took these to longish (100+ km) ride and I became delighted that my doubts were not realized. I own Rapha lightweight bibs as well, and I would say that despite the lower price these are even better than the lightweight bibs. That is much to say as the lightweight bibs are also a top-notch. The chamois in these feels slightly better than in the lightweight bibs. I have had some discomfort in the lightweight bibs when riding 100+ km rides and I actually thought that this is unavoidable when riding several hours. Core bibs prove me wrong.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK for the Price Point Been a Rapha fanboy for a while now and this is the first product that I haven't rated as 5 stars. Let's be fair though, this is not a high end price and I welcome the attempt into this market. Overall the styling and quality is what you would expect from Rapha - top notch but these bibs just annoy me. Great pad, great comfort around the shoulders and great styling as always but those thigh grippers.. maybe its the shape of my legs but I cannot get the grippers to lie flat unless I pull, tweak and conjole them into position. They stick on every sq cm as I pull them on and never feel quite "right". My Classic bibs are a joy but these are not for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Familiar Rapha feel If you already own a pair of Rapha bibs (I have the Classics), you'll know how good that pad is. The Core bibs have that part covered, the sizing is the same as my Classics and the pad stays put. The leg grippers on them is wide and secure, and really low-profile so they match the high-quality look of the jersey. Strap placement is great, nice and wide apart so they don't ride inwards towards my neck.

What is the difference in length for the Small vs Medium?

Asked by: Rich H
Hi, we do not take a measurement from shoulder to leg opening. The inseam length difference between small and medium is 1cm. Small - 22cm. Medium - 23cm.

I have just got these in a medium,& the pad feels very obtrusive.Much more apparent than other bibs I've had before.I'm size 30 waist & 6.1 tall, considering exchanging for size small. Will that be a smaller pad? What would you suggest?

Asked by: SAM87
Hi, based on your waist measurements we would recommend a small. However, the pad size will not change much. The core bib shorts do have a close fit, not dissimilar to our Pro Team Bib Shorts. Our Classic or Brevet bibs may be a better option for you as the pad area will have a slightly more relaxed fit.

Washing/care label on these shorts was right at the top of the left thigh, which was uncomfortable so I cut it off but as it was sown into the seam it loosened the stitching so now I'll have to hand stitch. So annoying. Are all Rapha shorts like this?

Asked by: Snowy70
Hi, I'm sorry you found this uncomfortable. The washing/care label on most of our shorts is located at the lower back section of the bib.

Is there a difference between the medium and small in the width of the end of the leg (where the grip is) if you flatten the fabric down? Is there an overall height difference between the two? Purchased a medium and great but end of leg is loose. Thanks

Asked by: JustPeter
Hi, there is a difference. The small would have a slightly narrower leg opening than the medium.

Do you recommend basing sizing off waist size or leg length if the two disagree? Per your sizing chart I should wear an XS due to my waist, but a L for leg length.

Asked by: tall_skinny
Hi, in this scenario it would be best to base your choice on waist measurement. As always, we do have a 90 day returns policy if needed.

Hi! Will this Core Bib fit women as well as it fits men? Or is the chamois different for men and women?

Asked by: angu94
Hi, the chamois pad in the Core is the same as in the Classic Bibs. It may not be as fitted in some areas when worn by women. We do have a 90 days return period should you wish to change.
