An elegant upgrade to a Rapha essential

A revised take on the Classic Rain Jacket that introduces laser-cut slats to the back panel, adding a functional addition which draws from heritage manufacturing methods.

One of Rapha’s first-ever products, the Classic Rain Jacket has become a year-round outerwear staple, providing full wind and rain protection while packing neatly into a pocket when not in use. The Collector’s Edition features a panel of overlapping horizontal slats running down the back, which allows improved airflow around the body when riding to help regulate body temperature.

The jacket features an offset zip to prevent cold spots when layering, soft chin guard to eliminate rubbing when zipped and a dropped hem to counter road spray. A trim, tailored fit with a three-ply fabric on the forearms makes the jacket more comfortable against bare skin when worn with short sleeves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Raincoat jacket material is very good, color design great sense of fashion, I really like this way of marketing, in particular, quantitative restrictions limited edition, so I do not think too much riding with friends wear the same clothes appear

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Those gills really work! Design and function of this rain coat are amazing. The ventilation in the back is extremely functional. I put this on with a short sleeve jersey underneath on a drizzly 50ºF morning and it kept me warm without being soaked in sweat. Get this while you can. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning Rain Jacket This is an amazing jacket! It looks superb, has fantasised features and performs brilliantly. I have been 'lucky' enough to wear this is some pretty horrendous Scottish weather and it has performed superbly! It kept me totally dry. It perhaps doesn't breath as well as I thought it might, but its definitely an improvement over other rain jackets. Im 173cm and 77kg and medium fits me perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could this be the best jacket ever???? Straight to the point:- Fully waterproof and I mean waterproof, riding for 2hrs in the worse rain I have ever seen and this jacket kept me completely dry. The fit typical rapha which is perfect, also worn this on a couple of cold rides and with just a base layer on it kept me warm. If I was to pick at something I would say it gets a little warm and sweaty, but this only happens when i have my back pack on as it's closes the vents on the back of the jacket. I have the classic softshell and that is an amazing jacket but unfortunately the rain jacket is in another league. Oh and the style WOW it's sexy!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Wow! It is indeed a Rapha essential, nevertheless a wonderful pice of clothing. Keeps you really dry and windproof too. It runs slightly large but looks good and feels great. Gotta have it:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beyond excellent and looks great too Admittedly I bought this in a last minute panic before the RCC MSR tribute ride. But actually it is very very good. The cut is spot on and the venting system on the back does seem to work based on the one ride Ive had in it. The cuff's are tight, which I actually think is a good thing. You can pack it and carry it in your rear pocket as well. Expensive, but recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Collection piece Just bought and haven't had a chance to wear as our Aussie winter is yet to come. Must say it looks and feels that good I don't want to wear it. Hahahahaha

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As usual, better than the competition. I love Rapha gear. City riding stuff to road kit, it's hard to beat for durability, quality and style. However, it is possible to have too much of a good thing. So for a waterproof jacket that was very breathable I thought I'd do a bit of research into getting this essential bit of kit. I do have to say at this point I have signed up for M2L 2017, and the weather on the 2016 event was terrible. So I needed something good. Tried out the competition ('lightest and most breathable waterproof ever etc etc). Felt like an expensive bin liner, so straight back in the packet. Ordered a Rapha jacket, almost hoping it would be not quite as good so I could go for something different. But no, it looked uber stylish, fitted superbly, and on its very first outing on a hard 80 mile ride kept me dry, ventilated and wind protected. And it still looked great covered in mud. So Rapha it is once again. Am quite pleased really.

How is the fit of this Collector's Edition Classic Rain Jacket when compared to the fit of your Pro Team Series? [I am a small in your Pro Team Race Cape. Should I order a small for this one also?]

Asked by: MrCasual
The Pro Team range are quite tight fitting garments, whereas the Classic range have a more relaxed fit. The small fit should be a good fit in the Classic Rain Jacket based upon what you have described.

Apart from packability, what's the difference between this and your previous hardshell jacket?

Asked by: Sheltie
The Hardshell jacket was a different garment and was a winter jacket designed for not only wet, but windy and harsher conditions. The Rain jacket is not as heavy and is designed to be worn in the wet. The Collectors Edition Rain Jacket features include reflective Logo and detailing, Neoprene Cuffs and is made from 100% Nylon. This garment is also a Limited Collectors Edition which has design elements that pay homage to the very beginnings of cycling attire.

Hi, does this jacket have storage pockets for gels etc?

Asked by: Stevie C
Hi, none of our rain jackets have rear pockets as the contents would get very wet. You can easily access jersey pockets whilst wearing the jacket.

Does this jacket remain completely waterproof even with the new laser cut horizontal slats?

Asked by: Kyubi
Hi, this jacket has been designed so that the slat material overlaps. The wet weather functionality is completely unaffected and the breathability is improved.

I know the size chart for men suggests that all medium size apparel are to follow the same set of measurement, but do jackets/rain jackets in general run slightly larger since they are meant to be worn over a layer or two?

Asked by: AdamC
Hi, we allow for the way jackets are layered in our sizing, and so please order the same size in our jackets as you would in our jerseys.
