A layering system in a single garment

Inspired by the Rapha Brevet credo of ‘pack light, travel far’, the multi-functional Brevet Windblock Jersey fuses into one piece the all-day performance of a lightweight merino jersey, with the wind-protection of a gilet. An overlaid panel made from the fabric of the Rapha Brevet Gilet is stitched on to the front, meaning that you won’t need to carry a windbreaker on tours in milder conditions, or all-day endurance rides. With reflective and hi-vis Brevet stripes on the front and back, and a total of five pockets, this is a versatile, multitasking piece. The prototype of this garment was tried and tested during the Transcontinental race in 2015 - a 4,000km journey across Europe.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great idea but little more attention to detail Bought this a couple of weeks ago and took it on bright but chilly Sunday morning ride - jersey did a great job of keeping the wind out but keeping me cool. Fit is excellent too and looks excellent. However, the back panels, in particular the pockets, are made of material that is too thin - carried a small multi tool (that was not particularly heavy, or sharp) in one of the pockets and it has made a hole. Not had this issue before with any of the other Rapha jerseys I've owned. Pockets need to be made out of more robust material. Wouldn't recommend this top until this design issue is sorted out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Premium quality item. this jersey makes sense on so many levels: the insulated front takes the chill out of the early starts whilst being light enough to not have to wear a jacket and get overheated as the weather picks up over the course of the ride. Pockets nice and deep. Day glo pink accents allows for rides with confidence as dusk descends. The fit and quality of this garment is as I've come to expect from Rapha - puckka

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super-stylish and practical jersey I already own a Rapha brevet jersey but this seemed to offer extra practicality, given the unpredictability of British weather in summer. The jersey design has changed, with longer sleeve and the large zip-pocket sitting above and behind the usual three pockets on the rear replaced by a small zip pocket to the rear right and another on the front lower left. So less carrying capacity than other Rapha brevet jersey iterations. The high merino content results in a soft feel against the skin and excellent odour-resistance. I'm 5' 9" tall with a 38" chest and the large is a good fit for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Windblock jersey I have only properly used this jersey on two occasions in first two weeks of owning. So far it is doing exactly what it was advertised to do. For me that means on summer cool morning starts to rides it definitely take bite out of ride in terms of keeping my core warm by blocking wind. Once the temps rise I simply unzip front a little more than normal and I do not feel like I am heating up unnecessarily. One of my favorite features is the reflective stripes and trim. Early morning rides tend to start in low light conditions so this is a huge plus.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive Bought for TCR as additional jersey for colder nights and high mountain passes but this is great for a spring/evening ride in the UK. With arm warmers this feels light on but warm. One slightly disappointing thing is that I wouldn't say it has 5 pockets. It has 3 traditional pockets. A front zipper pocket and a zipper compartment to one of the rear pockets. I'd have preferred to have an additional 2 real pockets (perhaps elasticated mesh) on the sides of the jersey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jersey for 3 seasons Spring, Summer or Autumn, this Jersey has it covered. Lots of pockets too. I can imagine with some arm warmers chucked in, I could ride in comfort during almost any weather between April & September.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely great With the mornings starting to turn chilly here I got to wear this jersey for the first time the other day. I wore a light base tank under it without arm warmers. I have never been more comfortable. I felt no chill going through to my torso. My arms had a chill but it seem to bother me less than usual because I kept the core warm. As the day started to heat up all I had to do was unzip the front. This jersey is the best. No more of those pricey cheap jerseys for me. Rapha garments do exactly what they say they do and I'm hooked now. Style is is nice and the fit was perfect. Well worth the price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Superb - but needs some key improvements Finally, Rapha are applying windproofing to their short sleeve jerseys! This is a very welcome addition to their range. Firstly, it looks the business. The windproofing works very well and is essential for a Scottish summer - nice to see Rapha realise not every region's summer is the sun bleached nirvana depict in their advertising! However, this jersey definitely needs some refinement in future iterations. The windproofing only covers the torso, so even with arm warmers you may get cold spots on your shoulders that is only covered by the merino material - missed by your arm warmers and the windproofing. I'm baffled why they missed the arms - as this can be quite noticeable on some rides. Also, the merino is lightweight - which is fine if you live in Rapha's sun-bleached nirvana. In more northern climates, this would ideally remain the same merino weight as the original Brevet jersey. Also, due to the lightweight material, and bearing in mind the concept of this jersey - "travel far" - loaded pockets due to long distance requirements mean you are going to have a saggy looking back as food, tools, tubes etc cause the merino to stretch. I'm *really* hoping that over time this will not cause the jersey to get misshapen. Finally, again perhaps due to the long distance requirement of loaded jersey pockets, the hem needs a pull cord - as in the original brevet. Again, why miss this feature, Rapha? Anyway, if you don't mind these slight omissions of features, it is definitely one of their most versatile jerseys so I would still recommend it. I hope to see the design be refined in the future though...

Are these race fitting? i do have the lightweight jersey in small and that fits pretty snug which i wear a size Small. Are these loser or tighter fitting than the lightweight jersey?

Asked by: Vias
Hi, this jersey has a slightly more relaxed fit than the Lightweight Jersey. It is not a big difference and we recommend you choose the same size, especially as your Lightweight Jersey fits you snugly.

Is the Brevet wind block jersey similar in cut to the Classics Jersey?

Hi, this jersey does have a similar fit to the Classic Jersey II. We would recommend ordering the same size in these items.

Morning, does this jersey have merino front & back or just front, would you recommend/ advise wearing a normal baselyer underneath or just the jersey on its own.  Many Thanks

Asked by: Pclarke61
Hi, the whole jersey is made from a merino wool blend but there is a polyester front panel, which acts like the Brevet Gilet. You could wear this jersey with or without a base layer, depending on the conditions.

Can you please just clarify that the black brevet windblock jersey has white/grey stripes on the back i.e. same colour stripes as the front & not pink?

Asked by: Spiderman
Hi, the Brevet Windblock Jersey contains the same colour stripes on the back as it does the front. Therefore, the black version has white/grey stripes on the back as well as the front.

Does the black version of this jersey have striping on the back? The photographs only show the back of the navy jersey.

Asked by: andres
Hi, the Windblock Jersey has the same coloured stripe detailing on the back as it does on the front. This applies for both colourways.

Hi there! Does the nylon on the front of the jersey go directly on the skin, or is there a layer of marino wool first, then the nylon wind-blocker stitched to the front? I would imagine it would get quite warm and smelly if it was only nylon?

Asked by: Joey80
Hi, there is a thin layer of Merino fabric underneath the Nylon front.
