The ultimate cycling jersey for visibility and endurance

In 2011, a trio of Rapha staff decided to push their limits and enter road cycling’s most historic long-distance event: the Paris-Brest-Paris Randonnée, in which cyclists from across the world battle to ride 1,200km, unsupported, in less than 90 hours. Their adventure was both the spur to create a new jersey designed for endurance riding, and the perfect testing ground for such a garment.

View the feature »

The test riders wore prototypes of what would eventually become the Brevet Jersey on the PBP but also throughout a series of qualifying ‘brevet’ rides – 200, 300, 400 and 600km around the UK, including the length-of-Wales-and-back Bryan Chapman Memorial. Those long days in the saddle tested the endurance of both rider and clothing.

The Brevet Jersey was designed to surpass the demands of the toughest long-distance rides.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Brilliant Fantastic jersey. The fit is more like the Classic Jersey 1 rather than the more recent Classic Jersey 2. That is, the sleeves are shorter, longer in the body and the fabric thicker. Sizing it the same i.e. Classic jersey 1 L or Classic Jersey 2 L = Brevet Jersey L. Excellent visibility, which is what I purchased it for. Half a star off for not having a small zip pocket at the back as well as the large zip pocket. Not sure what to put in the front zip pocket. BTW I also ordered the Brevet Bib Shorts XL, but returned then. For me the Pro Team Bibs XL are a better and more snug fit. Couldn't see any real difference in the chamois, however I of course didn't try them during an actual ride.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Brevet jersey I had two brevet jerseys. Unlike the the first generation, the later generations of the brevet jersey is no longer comes with the water resistant chest pocket. The water resistant chest pocket is an important feature for me as I sometimes I store my electronic device and valuable good when I ride in foul weather. The brevet vest is not water resistant, handing drizzles of rain is not an issue at all. The jersey itself is very versatile, truly a 3 seasons jersey with 5 pockets. The temperature range I use this jersey alone is around 8c-25c. If I got a cooler weather condition, I can simply add another layer of Rapha merino base layer underneath or wear a gilet. I would give the older generation model with a water resistant chest pocket a 5 stars The later generations 4.5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the most versatile Jersey you will own. After three months of ownership I can honestly say without reservation that this is the most versatile and practical Jersey I have owned. It has a simple and uncomplicated style which alludes to a classic and timeless look and I have found that it has been my go to Jersey during the last few cool and damp weeks.pocket and carrying provision is well thought out and executed , although I have yet to find a realistic use for the brevet card pocket.due primarily to the sports wool material it has stayed fresh after a number of rides and subsequent numerous washes have yet to have any effect on the garments finish, it still looks and feels new.i can high recommend this garment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, comfortable, high visibility, looks great This jersey is part merino wool, so it's thicker than your average jersey. It's not too warm though, so it should see you through for 3 seasons of the year. Definitely too warm for a Melbourne Summer! It's a great looking jersey, which keeps you dry and visible, thanks to some reflective details. The deep pockets allow for more storage than usual but this is a long-distance kit, after all. There is a front, chest zip pocket too, but it's mesh inside so make sure whatever goes in there is sweat-proof. This will be my jersey du jour in the coming Melbourne autumn/winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A really good jersey I needed to downsize from my XL Team Sky brevet and when the blue/pink jersey became available again I snapped up the L. The torso fit was perfect but the shoulder and neck fit was very baggy. I've not seen any Rapha-wearing cyclist with those proportions! I popped into RCCAMS to try the M and the fit was almost perfect - nothing a month of the beer couldn't resolve - so swapped my web-bought L for the M. The jersey is very stylish (I prefer the bright colours to the new muted colours) and the fabric is thick enough to be worn in cooler weather as well as all but the hottest summer days. I'll certainly be buying another one or two later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Brevet , Rapha at its best. Used the Brevet short sleeve top on a few occasions recently in temperatures around 5/7deg , with a good baselayer and arm warmers it's been great . Being merino it won't smell and dries quickly . The fit is about standard , not baggy or too tight . In Proteam kit I'm a large being 5.7 tall and 75kg , brevet I'm a medium . The pockets are especially good and the front zip pocket is perfect for cash and a house key etc . I've got the light blue top and lots of friends have commented on how good it looks . Overall it's hard to fault this jersey .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A hugely practical well fitting jersey A great fitting jersey with plenty of practical pockets. A large rear zipped pocked and a zipped brest pocket provide some security for those cycling essentials - Strava phone and a wallet for those coffee stops. The white strip is reflective and the grey looks stunning. I have the long sleeved brevit too which has an additional rear zipped pocket which I would have liked to have seen on this one. This jersey has pretty much replaced by white classic jersey!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice jersey! The overall quality of the jersey is really nice. The zipper back pocket and the front chest pocket are really good for keeping valuables. It does fit on the smaller size. I normally wear size large but needed an extra large. First Rapha garment and won't be my last.

Does the Marine Blue version have a grey reflective stripe (as shown in jersey only images) or white (as shown in model images)? ) need something with good visibility in darkness, but would prefer Marine Blue colour scheme if suitable.

Asked by: Eat_More_Carrots
Hi, the stripes are grey as seen in the jersey only photos. The banner photos are the Brevet Lightweight Jersey. However, the grey stripe is reflective for low light conditions.

I recently bought a Team Sky Short Sleeve Brevet Jersey - very cool jersey, but has a far too short sleeves (like the Classic Jersey I). Does Short Sleeve Brevet Jersey has so short sleeves, or longer as in the Classic Jersey II?

Asked by: Andrzej_K
Hi, the Brevet Jersey has a sleeve length similar to the Classic Jersey II.

Is it suitable for a hot (temperature of 27-30C) and humid weather?

Asked by: Henry LWT
Hi, this jersey can be used in warm weather, although it is a merino blend jersey so would not be as cool as other items such as our Super Lightweight Jersey.

Are your colors consistent ?  I have a Core jersey in light Blue and love it. Are the other light blues the same  and do the fits run consistent as well

Asked by: Piker
Hi the Core Jersey in Light Blue is a slightly more baby blue toned. It is not the exact same shade as the Short Sleeve Brevet Jersey.

I'm a 39 inch chest so am I better to go for L or M?

Asked by: Pottsy
Hi, with the information you have provided, we would recommend a Medium. The Brevet Jersey has a similar cut, a more relaxed fit, to that of the Classic Jersey. Should you need to exchange, we have a 90 days return period.

is the sleeve length of this jersey longer than the classic, or are they the same? with the exception of the longer length, is the fit of the shoulders and body the same as the classic?

Asked by: gojo
Hi, the Brevet Jersey is a similar fit to our Classic Jersey.

Just ordered M and L sizes. M is just about the right size but if it shrinks in the wash at all it will be too small. Whereas the L is too big but could be the right size if it shrinks. So my question is - do u know if the jersey will shrink in the wash?

Asked by: Mejulie69
Hi, this jersey will not shrink if the washing instructions on the care label are followed. We recommend that all our jerseys are washed at no higher than 30 degrees C using a non biological washing agent.
