Lightweight, packable, weather-resistant insulation

Long-distance riders can encounter a full range of weather conditions, so a lightweight layer that is both warm and packable is essential. The Brevet Insulated Jacket provides exceptional warmth, while highly breathable Polartec® Alpha® insulation ensures you won’t overheat during harder efforts. Extensively tested across a range of conditions: from the Transcontinental race across Europe, to the cold summits of Australia’s snowy mountains.

This versatile jacket is made for days when the weather is hard to predict. The fast-drying and hydrophobic properties of Polartec® Alpha® mean the jacket won’t hold water like natural down insulation and with a DWR (durable water repellent) coating you can watch the rain roll off.

Soft, brushed jersey side panels add warmth and allow the jacket to stretch over full pockets, while reflective detailing increases visibility in low light. When not in use the jacket rolls up neatly, secured by an elasticated loop at the neck.

Karen Whittier, product manager for insulation at Polartec, explains the science behind Polartec® Alpha®:

Polartec® Alpha® was engineered as an active insulation to regulate core body temperatures during both dynamic and static activities. This ‘adaptive’ breathability helps to eliminate the need for shedding or adding layers while on the move, making it ideal for cycling.

By keeping moisture vapour moving freely through the fabric, it increases overall air exchange and drastically speeds up dry times, providing thermal regulated comfort. Polartec® Alpha® is also highly compressible, made with a stable core that prevents ‘fibre migration’ to keep a uniform consistency, even after heavy wear and repeated laundering.

  • Dropped rear hem for added protection from road spray

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, league of its own very light weight and packable, insulation is where its needed, good amount of flex around sides and arms. Only "jacket" that I've had that can pack, into rear jersey pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the Canberra winter Bought this at the start of autumn. Didn't know that Canberra can get as cold as it does - this was perfect on the dry cold mornings, can be rolled up and put in the back pocket of your jersey (just) if you get to warm. Very comfortable to ride it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favourite Piece of Kit I just love this jacket, perfect for a Scottish summer, spring and autumn. It feels great to wear, well made, styled and fits me perfectly. I works brilliantly, as the weather changes, the zip goes up and down and I can moderate the cold and heat. Just one of those pieces of kit that makes you glad you cycle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great temperature range, pacakble This is the exact type of jacket that was missing in the colleciton: it's packable yet warm enough for wide temperature ranges. One can start in short sleaves and go for climbes over 2000m where temperature drops below 10C sometimes knowing that you are covered. On the other hand unzipped at 20+ degrees works just fine. Kind of a packable winter jacket, breatheble. Don't know about its waterproof capabilities.

I use to wear an unshirt, cycle jersey, arm warmers, vest and rain jacket to keep the upper body warm in the mornings now I only wear a cycle jersey and the Brevet jacket and am toastie warm. Out performs my expectations!!!

How should I wash the insulated jacket? Could I put it inside a bag into the wash machine for cleaning it?

Asked by: Celso
Hi, we do advise to wash most of our clothes turned inside out and in mesh wash bags, specially if there are any items with Velcro in the same wash which really should be avoided. Temperatures are as per advice on web page for each respective garment.
