On Tuesday the 24th March the Cycle Club in Amsterdam had its official launch party. After already opening on the Saturday we were all set for the grand occasion. With a large number of domestic and international RCC members, Rapha executives and VIP’s such as former cyclists Leon van Bon and Maarten Ducrot along with an array of other special guests the stage was set. The turn out was amazing. The Club was jam-packed and many stories were shared.
It turned out to be a great evening for RCC members. Many members met each other and shared stories about cycling and ideas for events and satellite rides. The launch party also allowed members to interact with Simon, the CEO of Rapha and Jesse, the local concierge.
As good as the company was, most conversations might have actually been about some of the eye-catching items in the new club in Amsterdam. A vintage RIH bike and the still-covered-in-mud centerpiece: Servais Knaven’s race winning bike from Paris–Roubaix, jersey included. A cyclist’s dream relic.
With great company, Dutch snacks that included cheeses and sausages along with some samples from our menu and plenty of drinks the evening quickly turned into night. A very successful launch party, leaving some impressed others perhaps a bit tipsy.
The following morning an international group of RCC members and Rapha employees set out for a celebratory ride. With showers and changing winds, it could not have been better. A true Dutch experience and the perfect way for our international friends to get introduced to our surroundings and conditions.
Wind, rain, mud, dykes, windmills, cows and endless plains. Covered in dirt, our bikes, faces and garments proved to pass the test. The inaugural ride is ridden, the Rapha cycle club in Amsterdam is officially open!
