FVDB may have had questionable relations with doctors and vets, but he was unarguably a style icon. He is the reason many of us wear a cap under our helmets. Respect.

God bless. Truely hope this isn't the 90's coming back to bite those who sought/were encouraged/manipulated to dabble in the dark arts. A little girl's lost her dad, rest in peace brother, hope you find it easier there than you did here

When I heard this sad, sad news from my friend Jens ( http://www.jensvandenbogaerde.be/ ) at 21:44 on Monday night it's something that will stick with me forever, the shock and
VDB was a rider who I looked upto and aspired to be like in more ways than one.
I remember seeing VDB and the way he graced the bike, with seemingly ease. It always brought a wry smile to my wind strewn face.
I have so many fond memories of VDB and his true EURO STYLE, something in my opinion that was started by him. The way he wore a hairnet helmet, the way he looked in Fassa Bortolo kit, I could go on, http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0fIl3ji7WIgDH/610x.jpg , also note the EURO race cap made into a visor.
I remember watching VDB at a Derny criterium in 2004. Now these races are "arranged", a nice way of putting it. VDB wasn't having that! And decided he wanted to win, instead of the local favourite, Tom Steels. The race went pretty damn fast for a while, oh and it was raining, VDB territory.
The tears I shed on Monday evening along with many others are for VDB and the glorious moments that he gave us along the way. Always in our hearts, and always on the road pushing us to go harder. R.I.P VDB.
