Portland - San Francisco Raid

9th - 19th junio 2018

The wildest west coast adventure with Rapha.

In between Portland and San Francisco are some of the wildest and most remote landscapes of the West Coast – landscapes which, in their breathtaking beauty, inspired the Rapha Continental and Rapha Gentlemen’s Races, and challenged us to push beyond our limits. Come and discover this rugged coastline, riding through imposing forests of Giant Redwoods and tranquil coves on tarmac and hidden gravel roads, staying in the best rustic inns along the way. Our finish is across the Golden Gate Bridge, for a reception at the Rapha Cycle Club San Francisco.

Single occupancy — €4.950 per person
Double occupancy — €4.300 per person

Who is it for?

Reconnect with your love for the bike and exploration. Raids are designed for independent riders with a thirst for going off the beaten track, and exploring lesser-known but nonetheless spectacular destinations and roads. You’ll still have access to a Rapha guide, full mechanical and logistical support, but the emphasis is on self-sufficiency, creating an adventure through wild and unspoilt landscapes. Each night we’ll greet you with hearty food and charming, rustic accommodation, to prepare you for another day’s exploring. It is cycling taken back to the essentials: a bike, a fantastic route to ride, and the self-imposed challenges that brings.

How Hard is it?

Because of the emphasis on challenging terrain and self-sufficiency, Raids suit the more confident, athletic rider, or groups of friends who may already have done a multi-day trip and want to challenge themselves further.

FAQ

What kind of assistance can riders expect on the road?

When you’re riding you’ll always have at least one ride guide on the road with the group. Raids are more self-sufficient than a Randonnee, so while a mechanic will be available they won't be tracing the route or offering on-road support during the day. Your guides will be able to help you out with ride food and drink, as well as local knowledge, first aid, a morale-boosting chat and – if necessary – a hand to push you up the hill if you’ve run out of energy.

Can I make a group booking?

Yes – family members, colleagues or friends usually find that embarking on a group adventure makes it even more fun and rewarding. However, trip places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Raids provide a true opportunity to ride together and build a camaraderie richly rewarded.
