High-performance winter tights

Deep into the coldest season, these tights will keep you warm but stop you overheating thanks to a dual-fabric construction inspired by the Pro Team Jacket.

The wind-blocking DWR (durable water repellent) fabric on the front panels gives necessary protection from the elements while the breathable fabric on the rear allows sweat to be released from the back of the tights. A nifty innovation to stop you sweating in traditionally thick winter wear.

The chamois is in the same position as in the Pro Team Bib Shorts, staying stable and comfortable during even high-intensity efforts in the drops. The bib straps are constructed from a lightweight mesh, and the tights' waist is raised to offer insulation across the torso, keeping the lower back warm. Finished with bright details for visibility in low light.

Reviews:

‟Heading out on a couple of early morning rides with a temperature of about 2°C, my legs were toasty warm. And thanks to the breathable fabric at the back of the legs, I never experienced any overheating, even as the temperature moved up into double figures after a five-hour ride. For riding in really bad weather these tights are about the best I've ever tested.”
‟Fit is an area Rapha generally do extremely well, and these are extremely comfortable bib tights. The DWR treated material does not have a great deal of stretch, but thanks to the smart cut of the various panels there is no restriction on your freedom of movement when pedalling. The fit is good around the hips, bum and crotch area too, and the flat wide bib straps exert no undue pressure on your shoulders.”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made a good first impression A late spring snow/cold front here in the Rockies gave me a chance to try out the winter tights before putting them away for the season. Seat comfort is very good as I have come to expect from wearing Rapha shorts for many years. Fit is very snug, but not uncomfortable. I experienced no creeping up at the ankles and only minimal bunching behind the knees. The front fabric does a good job of stopping wind and the tights were very comfortable during normal riding in mid to upper 30 degree F (3-5 deg C) temperatures. During long coasting descents I wouldn't have complained about a little more thermal insulation on the thighs but that's just an unavoidable fact of cycling life until we get those magic nano-fabrics that modify their thickness and other properties on the fly!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfort, quality and winter proof Living in Sweden I cannot afford to get clothing wrong. These fit the bill better than any other companies tights. They're very tough but unrestrictive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatility! Perfect fit! Yesterday started the day at 7 degrees (celsius) and by the time i was 2 hours in my ride it was 16 degrees. morning I was very warm and comfortable and when it got warmer it was by no means overkill. I was very comfortable throughout the whole ride.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable & Warm Apart from the initial feeling of bunching behind the knees each time I set off, these are excellent. I even prefer them to the Deep Winter Tights on cold cold days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Logo free Cannot fault quality of these tights.I would prefer either all self-coloured logos or no logos at all.Im sure there are many other discerning cyclists who want the quality product but not the "lookatme" sponsored-cyclist look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the missing link First ride in Belgian winter and tights are great for those early morning trainings.Arm- and legwarmers are not always right for the job so I decided to buy winter tights and a jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect winter tight Now with DWR as well, rode/riding all they way through the winter in these - very comfortable, close fitting, phone pocket in rear

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased Really pleased with these after third outing in them. Very slightly tight fit compared to other brands "L" size, but not so much as to cause discomfort to me. Noticeable thinner feeling fabric than other makes but I'm taking that as a sign of quality as they are great at keeping out the cold.

Hi there.  Are these suitable for women. I'm looking for a pair a winter bibs & Ive noticed that you don't do these in ladies. I'm thinking an XS might be the go???

Asked by: Tlp1
The Chamois inside the male garments are not designed for the female bone structure however some women may find it comfortable depending on their anatomy.

Anyone used these in Australian (east coast) winters? Wondering it they will get too hot as winter morning rides in Sydney may start off sub-10 degrees celsius but can get up to as much as 16 degrees celsius by mid-morning/midday.

Asked by: slau1973
Hi, these tights are designed for use from 0-10/11 degrees Celsius. In temperatures above this, it would be best to wear 3/4 Bib Shorts or leg warmers.

I usually wear size XL Rapha bibs. I'm 5'8" with a 35 waist and 30" inseam. Will the XL Pro Team Winter Tights with pad be too long?

Asked by: SharpShooter
Hi, we recommend you try an x-large. They may be slightly long but could still fit well. As always, we do have a free 90 day returns policy if needed.

Hi, is there a big difference in terms of leg circumference between the XS and M sizes for these tights? I recently bought the M size, but the inside leg (32in) is a bit too long, and I would prefer the 30in inside leg, but only the XS has that inside leg

Asked by: WDD1
Hi, the leg circumference is slightly smaller but the waist will be much tighter on x-small compared to medium.

The images in the product page are different to the ones shown in the Road.cc review. Which is correct? road.cc/content/review/137046-rapha-pro-team-winter-tights-pad .. seems to be difference of Logo on the back; and stripes on calves?

Asked by: Conz
Hi, the review you reference shows a pair of our tights from a previous season. The article was written in November 2014. I hope this helps.
