Rapha’s WorldTour bib shorts, improved

With a completely overhauled design for 2017, the Pro Team Bib Shorts II were designed for training and racing in the world’s biggest races. Rapha has worked hard to improve the comfort of these bib shorts, with a new dual-density chamois pad that provides more support and comfort even under duress. The pad changes in thickness according to your size (previously, one size pad was used in all bib shorts), ensuring a superior fit.

The bibs have a unique thigh gripper printed directly onto the fabric of the shorts, making for a low profile finish that supports your legs with fewer seams. The upper section of the bibs has also been re-engineered to provide more stretch and support, with less pressure over your shoulders. Folded bonded edges on each upper strap allow for a low profile underneath your jersey, and the multiple colour options allow for greater matching with other Pro Team products.

The bibs are available in two lengths, regular and long, with a difference between leg lengths of approximately 1 inch. Long shorts are for taller riders or those who prefer more thigh coverage. The leading edge of Rapha performance technology, for the edge of your saddle.

Reviews

"I tested a pair of the previous generation Pro Team shorts in 2013, and they're still part of my regular cycling wardrobe, and showing no sign of falling apart. I've been riding with these new Pro Team II shorts as much as possible over the past couple of months, wearing them as soon as they've dried from a wash, and thus far durability has been similarly impressive."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible The redesign is legit. The straps and gripper are especially nice. They go on with a bit of compression which was foreign to me at first, but now that I'm used to it I swear it saves my legs a bit on long days. The straps are wide and places perfectly. I don't know about anyone else, but I like to run the strap over my nipples (is that weird?). Anyway, they stay in place once there and I'm never tugging and adjusting. At first, I didn't like the pad as much as the Pro Team 1. I didn't think it was as plush. But, after a summer of riding I have gotten used to it and now appreciate that I don't have a bulky and sweaty pad under me. All in all these bibs are a revelation. They are all I run now and am hoping for an insulated version for fall. I sized down one size from what I wear in the pro team bib 1. My only criticism for the styling is I wish they made a 1" shorter version (though I admit I'm probably the only person that would want this).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost Seamless I'm 5'8" and I weigh 146 lbs. I purchased these in Small using the "short" leg option. I do not like loose-fitting bibs. These felt a bit snug, but were perfect once I got on the bike and rode. This is my third pair of Rapha Pro bibs. These are definitely the best of the three. Over the past 3-4 years Rapha has improved their designs. These bibs have very few seams. I've always held Assos bibs as the best on the market, but these are the first bibs I've ever used that top Assos in comfort. I've ridden with them 4 times, averaging ~ 50 miles each time. I've experienced no chaffing. They are extremely comfortable. Very good compression, but not over the top. Nature break is easy as the front "V" goes low enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Look and feel ace! Worth every cent After going through 2 other brands and not being comfortable I thought I'd pony up age pay for top notch, first time I'd ridden without needing to move my shorts around on my thighs to get comfortable. Hold true!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best shorts These are without doubt the best shorts I've ever used. Eclipse all other brands including that we'll know Swiss make.... The straps are a good width, nice mesh at the back with a slightly more robust material across the top of the shoulders. Nice wide leg gripper and a sumptuous pan. I can't find a single flaw. I bought a second pair I was so impressed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding short I bought one pair to test for a cross-country ride. Rode for a couple of centuries then did a 200 miler. I crashed at mile .5 (yes, that's 1/2). The bib hip was shredded. I got back on the bike and finished the 200 miles without any repair or first aid. I didn't think about the shorts for the next 200 miles. That's what you want your bibs to do. I have now bought 2 more pair and am ready for the big ride. Well done, Rapha.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Fit I've worn these on quite a few rides now and I'm still very impressed with the fit and perceived quality of construction. I'm a big Assos bibshort fan but these are their equal from Rapha.

Does the chamois have a sewn seam down the center of the chamois like the original pro team short? In other words is the chamois two parts joined together with a sewn seam down the middle of the chamois?

Asked by: unclevil
The Chamois is one piece and the central stitching is to ensure that the shape of matches the short and does not deform when riding

Hi, I wear a medium in the classic bibs, 32inch waist. Which size is recommended in the Pro's. Thank you.

Asked by: smithy70
The Pro Team Range has a closer race fit then our other garments, so you could try a large in our Pro Team collection.

Is this the same pad as the brevet II bibs? I have both and they both seem to have the perforated design to help it dry faster, am I correct?

Asked by: Neibl
The Pad is designed specifically for the race fit Pro Team range. Rapha has worked hard to improve the comfort of these bib shorts, with a new dual-density chamois pad that provides more support and comfort even under duress. The pad changes in thickness according to your size (previously, one size pad was used in all bib shorts), ensuring a superior fit.

Hi I'm still in two minds, what are the distinct difference between the Pro Team Bib 2 and the Pro Team Lightweight Bib. I'm stuck as I don't know weather to get these or the Bundle off for the lightweights. Advice will be appreciated thanks.

Asked by: Georgey6102
The choice is a matter of personal preference. Both of these garments will have a race fit but the Lightweight has a thinner material and is lighter garment. Being a racing garment the technical specificities of this product do mean that this garment does have a "race fit" therefore the garment may fit more tighter in places such as the elastic around the leg, as this is designed to be as close fitting as possible to allow a more aerodynamic performance.

Hello currently using sky training bib shorts with solid blue band on left leg 2015 version I think. What bib shorts would be the closest fit to these and what length if applicable. Cheers

Asked by: John968
The Closest garment to our previously issued Sky bib Shorts would either be the Core Bib Shorts if they were the replicas or the Pro Team Shorts if they were the Pro Team version of the Sky Shorts.

The one-size-fits-all chamois in the previous Pro Team Bib Short has worked very well for me, but the 2017 version so far does not. Which size chamois in the 2017 shorts is closest to the one-sized chamois in the old shorts?

Asked by: covfefe
The Pad has been completely overhauled and is technically designed for a race fit and to suit the requirements of a specific size. We use a new dual-density chamois pad for supreme comfort and support and there is not a comparison with the 2016 model.
