Women’s bib shorts for comfort and support

If you are unsure of which bibs or shorts to choose, take a look at our new Women's Bib Shorts Guide

Test ride any of Rapha’s Classic products to destruction and if you are not 100% satisfied within 30-days you can return them for a full refund.

Designed both for training rides and sportive riding, the Rapha Women’s Bib Shorts offer exceptional performance in hot conditions. They are made from a matt, Lycra fabric (the same used in Rapha’s regular Women’s Shorts) that is extremely breathable and which also has excellent moisture transfer. The shorts use a chamois pad designed specifically for women riders and have a panelled construction to guarantee a superb fit. Flatlock stitching throughout means they won’t chafe, no matter how long or hard you ride. The legs feature tonal Rapha logos and a wide gripper that is knitted directly into the main fabric for improved comfort.

The bib section is made from two different mesh fabrics (both of which are cream to avoid showing through light-coloured jerseys) and cut high for a more flattering line. A close-knit mesh at the front with an open-knit mesh at the back improves breathability. Designed to be worn with a sports bra, the back of the shorts also has a large cutaway section for maximum breathability. Other styling elements include a polka dot tab.

Reviews:

If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be about to recommend a pair of cycling shorts costing £160 I’d have had a very stern word with myself. I still don’t even own a dress costing that much. Plus I’d always held the view that Raphaites were mugs who had not only drunk the Kool-Aid but paid through the nose for the privilege. I considered the brand to be the height of style over substance - 90% monochrome marketing (justly lampooned here) and 10% Lycra. Then I tried their bib shorts.

Crikey, these are good. First, they look great. Super flattering. The material feels expensive - as well it should - and not even the tiniest of threads has come loose after a summer of hard riding and many washing machine cycles. The grippers at the bottom kept everything in place, without sticking or pulling on the odd stray hair like the Café du Cycliste shorts.

Rapha is quickly gaining a reputation as a go-to brand for boutique, high-quality and high-price cycling gear. At US$235/ £165/ AU$240 the Women’s Classic bib shorts perform better and last longer than many cheaper competitors, and remain more affordable than other elite or boutique alternatives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Bib Shorts I bought these a month and a half ago and they have become my favorite pair. I generally have a hard time finding bib shorts that don't make me feel like I have sausage legs but the band at the bottom is not constrictive and expands appropriately. I'm 5'-3" and 135 lbs, the widest part of my thigh is 21-3/4". On a small the inseam is 7-1/2" and the circumference around my thigh at the very bottom of the band is 18". I generally ride 40-60 mile rides in these shorts but I used them in a century and found that they performed very well. The only negative thing I have to say is that the fabric is starting to pill a bit where my thighs touch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Bib-Shorts I bought my first pair of Rapha bib shirts over a year ago and I can safely say they were the best cycling-clothes' investment I ever made! They are a great fit and the padding is excellent (some might say it's on the bulky side but I find this to be perfect for me). I like they they aren't a female version of a male design - they were clearly created and put together specifically for women. Understatedly cool and there is absolutely no shinny Lycra in sight!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfectly perfect in almost every wau I bought this almost two months ago. Clumsy fingers, touch screens and lingering concussion issues combined to have me choose the wrong size. Rapha was good about getting it exchanged though. Once the correct sized arrived I was quite pleased with it. It is the most comfortable I've bought so far. My only issue is how Rapha makes the legs so small in their shorts. It's not uncomfortable to wear but very difficult to get up my thick thighs which most female cyclist who cycle regularly have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In love!! I am in love with these bib shorts and will be ordering other colors! I am 5'7" 125 pounds and the small fit perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent product They are beautiful and I love them. Unfortunately they are smaller than the sizing indicated. I didn;t send them back, because I can wear them, but if I bought another pair, I would buy mediums, even though I wear 8-10 in normal clothes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE these!! Purchased recently and oh my gosh!! They may be expensive but they have got to be the most comfortable, gorgeous cycle shorts ever. The padding is superb, not to think and not too thin and first ride was over 170 km where they remained super efficient. Nicest Lycra ever , leg grips stay in place and the mesh top didn't get too hot either on a pretty hot day. Lovely detailing too and the navy is great. Have been wearing with my navy brevit jersey ( which I also love) so perfect combo! I brought large although Med would have worked too. Lots of room for longer torsos but , even though I'm pretty short, they're still fine. It's like business class and never wanting to go back to economy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really comfortable These are a great pair of bib shorts with a smooth, soft chamois. They are long enough in the leg not to give you 'sausage legs' if you are average height (I am 1.65m). The top is a bit loose on me, but the shorts a great fit so I don't mind too much. Worth the investment for longer rides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect padding It only took about five seconds into my first ride in them to realise they are the most comfortable bib shorts ever and the padding is considerably better than any other bib shorts I've tried. They fit well and don't have any very tight bands (e.g. at the bottom of the short leg) or itchy seams. Definitely worth the investment.

I'm 5'10.5" tall with 29" waist. What size of these classic bibs do you recommend for me? And would that be the same as in the souplesse shorts? Also, what is the length difference between the classic bibs and the souplesse bibs? Thanks.

Asked by: estroutt
Hi, in the Classic Bib Shorts you could wear either the small or medium, depending on how close you would like these to fit. The Souplesse Bib Shorts have a closer fit and as you are in between sizes, we would recommend you choose the medium in these bibs. The classic have the same inseam length as the souplesse in short length and the souplesse regular are 5cm longer at each size.

Hi I'm 5ft2 and have a 29" waist but wider hips and big thighs so was thinking of trying a large, does this sound right?

Asked by: MT86
Hi, the shorts allow for wider hips and the leg openings accommodate a variety of legs sizes due to the shorts stretch. We would recommend you choose a medium. As always, we do have a free 90 day returns policy if needed.

Is the top of the blue and pink bib short mesh with a white liner? Or is it sheer and you would see your skin through it?

Asked by: Maeg
Hi, the bib short mesh is not opaque. You can slightly see your skin through the material.
