Prepare for approximately 208km and more than 2,000m of elevation. Expect to be on the bike for between 8-12 hours. We seek out the roads less travelled, aiming to be quite remote at times. The Rapha Prestige Malaysia will start in the city of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah before heading into Borneo’s UNESCO World Heritage Site mountain ranges, where teams will take in views of the the legendary Mt Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Malaysia. The full route will be revealed to confirmed participants 48 hours before the ride.
The Prestige is a completely unsupported ride. You are responsible for keeping yourself and your team going. There are no prizes for first place and finishing times will not be recorded, this is truly a test of camaraderie and teamwork. Road helmets and drop bars are required – No TT helmets or TT bars. We recommend 25mm or 28mm tyres for extra resilience against punctures as a substantial portion of the route will take place off road. We strongly recommend teams use wheels with aluminium brake tracks with clincher tyres. Teams must carry their own spares and be completely self-sufficient. Minimum kit should include two tubes, multi-tool, pump, patch kit, a chain-tool, and link per rider. Highly recommended kit also includes spare food, a GPS bike computer in addition to the supplied brevet card, and one spare tyre per team. Be prepared to dress for the heat and rain of the tropics.
